Yeah, maybe after 1 pm CST. I dunno how fast they read emails though, it took me a few days to hear back about something differentJames.K.Polk wrote:Wait til the afternoon, maybe?herecomesthesun wrote:It can't hurt. Re: Northwestern Pritzker Law Class of 2019
in terms of the reconsideration form, have any of you included scholarships from peer schools who gave you less money but are higher ranked? I'm having a hard time explaining why I think they should give me more cash even though they have better job placement and are basically on par with Michigan and Mich gave me less. It seems trivial to write that they are ranked higher as though that's a real proxy for prestige.
Any wisdom would be appreciated!

I believe NU's tuition is slightly higher and COL in Chicago is probably estimated to be higher - you could use that?zyxwvut2 wrote:in terms of the reconsideration form, have any of you included scholarships from peer schools who gave you less money but are higher ranked? That's literally exactly what I'm planning to do with Michigan actually.

Does anyone know if Northwestern is open to increasing your scholarship more than once? If I think there's a possibility for a second bump, I'll write the essay a little differently as opposed to just showing my hand all at once.

Actual email conversation with random admissions lady at Northwestern:
Me: My name is (My Name) and I will be attending the admitted students weekend tomorrow. I still have not received a schedule or that follow up document you spoke of. Could I have missed it? If so could you send it to me again? Thanks! - (My Name)
Admissions Lady: Patience, young grasshopper, it’s getting a final look through and will be sent out this afternoon.
Me: Perfect, just wanted to make sure I hadn’t missed anything. - Impatient Grasshopper
Admissions Lady: Thank you -Older and probably just as impatient grasshopper sherpa
This seemed like pure gold to me and I thought you all might enjoy

Hello All,
I am a 1L at Northwestern Law and organizer of tonight's (3/31) Bar Review. If you are here, interested in attending or want to head to the bar with me, message me and we will plan a meet-up.
I'd love to see everyone and talk about the school, law school, life, etc.

Great school if you can handle the weather.
The Pritzker family donation is a game-changer if you are thinking about PI: 10k stipend for 1L summer if you do a public interest internship or anything like that.
I don't think its a place where anyone is going to hold your hand, but if you have a little motivation and vision, you can probably do anything from NU; and they'll help.
As far as QOL, its downtown Chicago......cheap as hell if you commute, expensive as all get-out if you live near the school.

I believe its a min of 8k and then depending on how much money is raised, a max of 10k. Regardless, it blows any other schools PI summer stipend out of the water.Wipfelder wrote:Great school if you can handle the weather.

Also I agree on the costs, however i would say it is better or in line with Columbia, NYU, Stanford, and Berk.
Overall I really liked it. I think they did a great job of having the admits mix with students and I just got an overall great vibe from the school.

Funny, I'm gunning for biglaw and thought they've been pushing the public interest stuff harder. Only thing I really noticed as being only biglaw focused was the recent alumni panel.threatlevelmidnight wrote:Really emphasized big law, but there are also a lot of opportunities/support to pursue PI if you so wish. Everyone I met seemed like a genuinely nice person, and no gunners, at least in the discussions I attended. Also did a panel on Making a Murderer, which gives you an idea of the kind of work you could do in clinics there. Pretty good overall.zozo1717 wrote:Didn't get to make it to ASW - what did everyone think?

Ditto here. Felt like 99% PI stuff to me, sort of off-putting.radient wrote:Funny, I'm gunning for biglaw and thought they've been pushing the public interest stuff harder.
