Would it be bad form to follow up with them via phone/email? Sent them my email 2 weeks ago.

I did, and got a rather terse email in reply saying they'd gotten my appeal and would contact me when they made their decision.IcarusOnWheels wrote:Would it be bad form to follow up with them via phone/email? Sent them my email 2 weeks ago.

+1, I was actually surprised by how rude the response was.Applesauce11 wrote:I did, and got a rather terse email in reply saying they'd gotten my appeal and would contact me when they made their decision.IcarusOnWheels wrote:Would it be bad form to follow up with them via phone/email? Just received an unsolicited scholarship bump of $20k, so that's pretty positive for a Monday.

Congrats! Just curious, did they give you any reason for the bump? Hope this is me3pianists wrote:Just received an unsolicited scholarship bump of $20k, so that's pretty positive for a Monday.

Seriously..? That's pretty amazing. If I received a $20k bump I think I'd immediately submit my deposit.3pianists wrote:Just received an unsolicited scholarship bump of $20k, so that's pretty positive for a Monday.

It's related to the dual program I'm admitted to!BillClinton Jr wrote:Congrats! Just curious, did they give you any reason for the bump? Hope this is me3pianists wrote:Just received an unsolicited scholarship bump of $20k, so that's pretty positive for a Monday.

I'm here, and have been following the thread. Voted option 1 in the poll as well. Deposited, and already counting down the days until we camp out for our (#1 ranked nationally) season basketball tickets.lymenheimer wrote:Join us, friend.TLSDookie wrote:Call-in

Any had success in negotiating a scholarship yet? I submitted my stuff 3ish weeks ago, was initially assured a response before April 10, and haven't heard anything. I've sent along two emails asking for a status update (pending deposit deadline on April 15) and haven't heard anything back.

Can't comment about timelines because I just reached out to them yesterday, but you should ask your other school for a deposit extension. I've already asked one school for it and they gave it happily.LittleGiants16 wrote:Any had success in negotiating a scholarship yet? April 15 actually is my deposit extension. The deposit deadline was April 1, but it was extended to April 15. I feel unsure about going back for another extension.benwyatt wrote:Can't comment about timelines because I just reached out to them yesterday, but you should ask your other school for a deposit extension. Yeah, in that case you may be in a tough spot. Paying a deposit and then withdrawing later would suck but might be your best option. You'll just need to find out if the school in question has a policy about deposits and withdrawals from other schools.LittleGiants16 wrote:April 15 actually is my deposit extension. Re: Duke Law Class of 2019
The fortunate thing for me is that I have (for all intents and purposes) decided to attend Duke next year. For whatever reason, I fell in love with the place at the ASD. I'd just like to hear something before Friday so I can be totally sure in my decision.benwyatt wrote:Yeah, in that case you may be in a tough spot. Hear back about a week after I sent my negotiation request. Got a 20k bump. Just begged on the basis of need (which I do have) and used a strong t-14 offer. Good luck to yall and see you in August

Re: Duke Law Class of 2019
Reason seems pretty clear:ASD was incredible. 0Ls were people I'd love to call my classmates, current students were incredibly friendly, faculty seems genuinely enthusiastic about helping their students learn to practice law, even got to talk to Dean Levi at Friday's cocktail hour and he seemed to really enjoy hearing the perspective of 0Ls and convincing each of us to find the right place to attend school. Not to mention the career services department/OCIs seemed stellar, even among t-14s. Just my $.02 anyway.LittleGiants16 wrote: The fortunate thing for me is that I have (for all intents and purposes) decided to attend Duke next year. This. I went to the Columbia ASD and saw many of the people I got along in NYC at the Duke program. Almost to a man/woman, everyone I liked at Columbia said they were also leaning to Duke. That was very telling for me.TLSDookie wrote:Reason seems pretty clear:ASD was incredible. This is great to hear, because right now I'm very heavily leaning Duke and the big thing holding me back is that I'm still waiting on Columbia (I was held). Columbia had been my dream school all along, but after visiting Duke, I just love it and think I might be happier there and it might be a better fit.LittleGiants16 wrote:This. I'd really love to hear something else re: negotiation. These mystical 20k bumps are sounding appealing. Maybe this Friday, if the meetings are on Fridays theory holds.
