I think this show passes the bechdel test in the first scene, but I can't remember. Take your usual sitcom with sympathetic, complex, relatable male characters who are hooking up with stylized, impossibly gorgeous women with zero depth, and completely reverse it. Then give the male characters depth, too, because you're a good writer. But keep them impossibly gorgeous because damn.

It's a telenovela lightly mocking telenovelas, so it is ALWAYS meta.

Re. the Bechdel test - drama and romance are a huge part of the plot, but the one constant is always the really strong, beautiful family ties between Jane, her mom, and her grandma. It warms my heart so much. :'))))
