Hello friends,

In reaching out to NYU about a merit-based scholarship, I was directed to the student portal to fill out the institutional financial aid application. I'm wondering though: where should I mention scholarship offers from other schools?

Thanks

There is a box at the end for other information/special considerations.

Wait, I'm a little confused. Is there a separate application for financial aid? I thought all you had to submit was the Need Access and FAFSA.

You're correct.

There is technically a secondary merit-only application, but that is only to be filled out in circumstances where, for one reason or another, the applicant is not able to fill out a Need Access application.

So if you filled out Need Access, ignore everything that these guys are talking about.

Just received a response of "no" on scholarship negotiation. Not really too surprising, just incredibly disappointing. Not sure I can justify the cost relative to other options.

PM for details if you're curious.

Do you guys mind sharing an approximate time of when you submitted your appeals?

So did they say yes to anyone for appeal?

Right now, I would love to go to NYU, but I would have to take out twice the loans that I would if I went to a lower T14 (that I loved upon visiting). I'm close to just giving up on NYU, but holding out a little hope for reconsideration.

+1,000.

I submitted my appeal on 3/21, and now I'm worried I'm going to get a "no" right before the admitted student days. Might make my New York trip an old-fashioned sight-seeing vacation.

Anyone else going this weekend from the west coast, btw?

Email them and they open up an appeal tab.

OH. Thank you!! (so the answer to my second question was yes, ha)
I wouldn't have know either lol. I just emailed them and my spiel and they directed me to the appeal tab, and I had to type it all out again. And then in the end they didn't change my aid anyway :/ My initial offer was a bit more than I expected though tbh, so I'm not too disappointed. Will be attending asw this weekend. NYU is very much in the running, barring me absolutely hating NYC.

Have fun at ASW!! NYC is great :) For example, last night I saw 3 rats get run over by a train because they were fighting over an empty Reese's wrapper on the subway tracks.
This. So this. For everyone with limited experience in NY, the person above is not joking. This shit will become a daily facet of life.
