Well, it's better than my first thought that they had just realized they made a mistake in admitting me...bamb00zled wrote: You've given me shaky but needed hope, applesauce

The estimated tuition and fees stated in our award letters apparently includes the student health insurance (which they price at over 4k and list separately on the website/calnet), so the big tuition increase we've been fearing isn't really happening. I haven't been so relieved in a long time. It felt like a $15-20k conversation lol

Samesies... Did anyone call and ask to see if the $0 gift aid is our final offer or if they are slow to get to us?Applesauce11 wrote:Now it's fixed, but I still have no money. Darn.

I am pretty sure that at ASW they said you'd be notified by email when they determine your merit award, even if it is zero, so if you haven't gotten an email about a merit award then they haven't decided on you yet. Can others confirm?sudijajd wrote:Samesies... Did anyone call and ask to see if the $0 gift aid is our final offer or if they are slow to get to us?

My understanding was that they'll notify you if a matching request is denied, but they otherwise won't send out an email notifying you that they won't give you any aid.dizzystpizzy wrote:I am pretty sure that at ASW they said you'd be notified by email when they determine your merit award, even if it is zero, so if you haven't gotten an email about a merit award then they haven't decided on you yet. They explicitly said that it shouldn't be assumed you're getting zero aid if your account shows all loans at this point. The law school and the general university (who handles loans) operate separately, so what you see is just what has been reported to the university so far.

When I spoke to Fin Aid at ASW they said they would notify us if we were receiving $0...so if your award is listing $0 I wouldn't worry until they send an official email.Stannis the Mannis wrote:My understanding was that they'll notify you if a matching request is denied, but they otherwise won't send out an email notifying you that they won't give you any aid.dizzystpizzy wrote:I am pretty sure that at ASW they said you'd be notified by email when they determine your merit award, even if it is zero, so if you haven't gotten an email about a merit award then they haven't decided on you yet. When I spoke to Fin Aid at ASW I heard otherwise. They said no aid = no email. Their reasoning was maybe you don't get aid now but you could get it later if more than expected decline offers for example.

I think though if you submit a matching request they'll at least send a rejection for that.lingo wrote:When I spoke to Fin Aid at ASW I heard otherwise. They said no aid = no email. Called them this morning about the $0. They said that they will notify you via email once your package is complete and that the $0 is a placeholder. She said that they will email you if you receive nothing.
