I didn't really get a straightforward answer on it when I asked in the other thread so I figured I'd ask here: is any information sent to you regarding applying for travel subsidies for ASWs when you get the registration email? Or should I just reach out to the office on my own about one now?

I believe it says somewhere on the admitted students website that you're eligible for a travel subsidy if you got a need-based application waiver from LSAC

Has anyone else received an unsolicited email from Ken Lafler (Dean of SFS) offering to talk?

Yep!
Thanks! I was scared it was something about the financial aid docs that I've submitted

As awesome as getting that call was, since people who have missed the call have reported getting the good news via voicemail rather than through a follow-up email only, I halfway wish I would have missed it so I could have kept the voicemail forever.
I actually missed the call and got the voicemail. There's a decent chance I've played it a dozen times or so.
Ahh that's awesome. Obviously there was no way I could have consciously declined to pick up the 617 area code call in that moment; desire for instant gratification is too great :D
but I do want that voicemail
I missed the call also. When I first starting listening to the voicemail I heard "I'm sorry we missed you" and after the "I'm sorry" I almost had a friken heart attack. Seriously thought I was getting the, "very talented applicant pool, couldn't take everyone" speech.
I also got the voicemail. Missed the call by four minutes because I left the room to make some food. Simultaneous self-hatred and elation is an interesting feeling.
It might be nice to have that recording though... To be able to re-live your acceptance...

Are most people who are attending leaving ASW Saturday night, or is there some other event after ASW ends at 5:30 that makes sticking around longer worth it?

Wish they would just send the admitted students info faster so I could see all this for myself

Yay! I'm doing exactly the same thing, except taking the train instead of plane after Columbia ASW... Maybe we'll also see each other at Columbia & anyone else here doing the same thing? :)
I think I'll be doing the same

Also doing Columbia and taking the train up to Boston

Me too, except I'm skipping the second day of Columbia's ASW and taking the train to Boston on that day.

Wow, a good number of people! I'm getting on the train at 2 and should get to Boston around 6. You guys have any plans for that evening? Anyone up for dinner and walking around/random exploring??

Are we talking about the 1st and 2nd or the 15th and 16th? I have an interview I can't get out of the 1st so I'm coming for the 15th and 16th. Anyone else?

I'll be there on the 16th and 17th if you're asking who's coming.

I will be there, but it is the 16-17 fyi. Add your TLS names to the spreadsheet about ASWs in the OP. We should definitely do a TLS meetup!

Yesss sounds good! :D

And yeah I was talking about March 31 evening - the night before the first ASW. Just holler if anyone else is interested!

For those of you heading from Columbia to Harvard, did you get any kind of travel stipend from Harvard for their end of the trip? I didn't apply for an LSAC fee waiver, so I guess that's out for me. Just not sure what to say on the Columbia stipend request form on the question about whether I've requested assistance from the other schools. Should I just plan on asking Columbia to cover the ticket to New York and eat the cost back home from Boston myself?

Submitted my FAFSA... Got a 13,000 EFC. :(

In undergrad I always had 0 EFC, but I am coming off of 3 years of WE. I don't feel like I can contribute that much, and I feel like it's going to adversely affect my financial aid package. Things aren't looking so good for me at Harvard suddenly.

Does anybody have any knowledge on Harvard's fin aid?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
