So, I know I should shave my sea captain's beard before I go visit UVA in an effort to get off the waitlist, but I don't want to. My face is going to be cold and lonely, and I'll no longer give off the vibe of a chill young adult to the students I substitute teach

I just got rid of mine last week... had originally planned to keep it up until ~august. Was a bitter sweet moment

I feel you guys... I'm enjoying my nose ring for awhile longer. I'm thinking I can wear it in school but I should really just give the piercing a chance to close before interview season starts.

I know someone who did their 2L SA interview season and worked through the summer just using a clear retainer. You can also probably get away with a beard for OCI/interviews/etc, it just can't be unruly.

I gave up my body piercings over the last few years, but (based on my experience) you probably won't have to 100% give up channeling 90s alt rocker chicks if you're willing to take it out for interviews and put it back in later. Nose piercings, if you've had it for awhile, don't heal quickly and I was usually able to go a couple days to a week at a time without one in and it didn't close and I didn't have any issues.

Don't get me wrong, I'm plenty beardy, but between going on a lot of first dates lately and having all kinds of law school stuff, I've maintained a professional level of scruff as opposed to my usual winter lumberjack length.
