Has anyone submitted a matching scholarship from Duke? If so, how did that fair out? You can PM me if you dont want to post reply

I submitted my matching scholarship from Duke about 3 weeks ago, but I haven't heard back from Berkeley yet. I don't have any scholarship info yet. Have you heard back already?

Nope, I just got my Duke offer today. I was just debating if I wanted to send that one or a smaller NYU offer, depending on the success people have been having with Berkeley matching Duke's offer.

Worth it compared to what though? See what other schools offer, but if it's compared to not going at all I'd say Berkeley at that price is certainly worth it, that's a pretty solid offer (especially if you're in state)

I'm just debt averse and thinking about taking out 6 figure loans makes me a little uncomfortable, but it might just be something I have to come to terms with if I think it will pay out in the end. I'm still thinking about if it would be better to go to a lower ranked school with more aid and if I'm already going to be in 6 figure debt if I should go to a higher ranked school with less aid.(Or taking a year, improving my score, and applying next cycle) Considering that I haven't gotten most of my financial aid offers and I still haven't heard back from a few schools, I can't really make that decision now anyways. But I really like Berkeley and I feel incredibly lucky to have gotten in and gotten the amount of aid that I did, so there's a good chance that I will be there in fall.

And yes I am in state, but not close enough to the school so that I could live rent free.

Do any of you know what firms go to Berkeley's EIW? Is there a list somewhere? I'm trying to find out what (if any) Boston or Philly firms go.

Just in case anyone is having similar problems -- I just called and (after five emails and two calls with no answer last week) they finally answered. I talked to a financial aid counselor about the missing FASFA, and he said the message was just a MISCOMMUNICATION, and that I don't need to do anything at this point. He also said most financial aid packages would come out during the first week of April, so don't worry too much if there is nothing under your MyFinances tab yet. Mine shows "You do not currently have any Financial Aid information ready to view."

Got a notification saying that my FASFA is missing...but I emailed them a month ago asking if international students (which I am) need to submit FASFA and they said no. OMG this is so frustrating. And it takes them like two weeks to reply an email.

Hmm, I don't think you should, given how confusing their system is, but it doesn't hurt to call and ask, especially since the deadline is approaching.

At work, so can't call right now unfortunately. But I did just find this on the "checklist" portion of the admitted students website:

If you submit all of your aid applications on time you usually should be able to see your initial offer by logging in to your CalCentral account and clicking on the “My Finances” tab. If your offer is missing or incomplete, please check to make sure that you have satisfied all of your financial aid requirements to date and contact Financial Aid if you believe that there is an error in your record. Your offer should include any loans and need-based grants for which you are eligible. The scholarship committee is currently determining scholarship awards and will notify recipients directly by e-mail. Once a determination is made, the scholarship award will be added to the recipient’s financial aid offer.

So it looks like if we have $0 we were rejected for need-based aid, but merit is still eligible.

I received an award offer from Berkeley after submitting matching app with Duke's offer. They were very generous and gave me more than Duke. I've spoken with financial aid and the offer is guaranteed for all 3 yrs with more details to follow in an email this week. Feel free to pm me with any questions!

I think I remember hearing from a current student at ASW that the tuition freeze would end our 2nd year. But yeah, I'd like to know what the expectations for an increase would be.

Has anyone had a chance to call Berkeley and get some info about the tuition increase? As it stands, it seems like the awards being sent out are indicating a $5,000 tuition increase compared to last year. I really don't want to believe that is accurate, but I won't have a chance to call myself until after work =/
