I keep seeing on TLS that Georgetown has a reputation for being somewhat stingy on their scholarship offers compared to other T14 schools. Anyone have a guess as to why this would be the case? Maybe the larger class size = less of a need to persuade individual candidates with $$?

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2019
Hey! Found out I got admitted last week and am super excited!
This question has been driving me nuts because I'm also eager to get the ball rolling on the financials, but here's some information I was finally able to find:
Password Information for Students
Your NetID and password are your keys to many of the technology services you will use at Georgetown. The Office of the Registrar will mail your NetID and a temporary password to you with your offer letter. After the university receives your deposit and you are officially matriculated, you will receive additional information about your NetID enabled accounts such as email. Please be sure to keep your letter in a secure place and follow any instructions provided.
I haven't received my NetID password letter yet. What should I do?
Most students at U.S. mailing addresses should receive NetID password letters 2 to 4 weeks after being accepted into an incoming class.
The link to the info is http://uis.georgetown.edu/accounts/students
Hope this helps!

I spoke to an admissions officer at one of the LSAC fairs. They said that because of Georgetown's jesuit roots and all that, it fits their philosophy to help as many people as possible, which might result in a greater number of smaller awards than a smaller number of larger awards.coffee247 wrote:I keep seeing on TLS that Georgetown has a reputation for being somewhat stingy on their scholarship offers compared to other T14 schools. I mean, that's a very nice answer - but it doesn't quite line up with the numbers... about 40% of gulf students receive some kind of aid - compare that with northwestern (60%) or vanderbilt (90%) on either side of the ranking...counttoten wrote:I spoke to an admissions officer at one of the LSAC fairs. It just doesn't make sense to me. Especially considering GULC is lower T14. You would think Georgetown would be more inclined to give $$ to solid candidates in order to compete with schools like Duke/UVA/Michigan. Oh well, maybe they'll surprise usltbenn wrote:I mean, that's a very nice answer - but it doesn't quite line up with the numbers... about 40% of gulf students receive some kind of aid - compare that with northwestern (60%) or vanderbilt (90%) on either side of the ranking...counttoten wrote:I spoke to an admissions officer at one of the LSAC fairs. GULC has a very small endowment I think. Honestly they just don't have the money most likely. Shouldn't earn them any pity points bc I think they have way too many pricy faculty and VPs though.coffee247 wrote:It just doesn't make sense to me. Especially considering GULC is lower T14. You have to go to the ASW and sign-up. The January Open House page has links to sign up sitting in on a class or to go to the docent lecture at SCOTUS. The class I'm sitting in on was the only one available for Thursday when I signed up.BirdLawExpert wrote:How do you already know? Haha I didn't even think about that. All of the Thursday classes were full, but luckily I'm coming in early on Wednesday so I thought this would be a pretty cool class to sit in on.squirtlesquad14 wrote:They're having us all sit in on curriculum b courses...must be some sort of conspiracyBirdLawExpert wrote:Just signed up for the Supreme Court tour and to sit in on Democracy and Coercion on the 27th! Luckily this blizzard is coming through over the weekend and not midweek. I doubt there is a loaf of bread or drop of milk to be found in DMV grocery stores.BirdLawExpert wrote:Haha I didn't even think about that. Ah, when I didn't see specific sign ups for Thursday classes, I figured it was just an error on their end. I got a confirmation e-mail after clicking the forward button, so I'm going to try to sit in on Butler's Criminal Justice class but if I can't get in there's always next time. Also just signed up for the SC tour!BirdLawExpert wrote:Haha I didn't even think about that. Saw out of the corner of my eye that I got an email from GULC, was excited it might be about $$$, instead it was just Dean Cornblatt saying he's looking forward to seeing me on Thursday.BirdLawExpert wrote:Willie Beamen wrote:Just logged on to the ASW and a pop up screen to make credentials came up!$$$ time, please.
