In many ways, the lounge is like whitewater kayaking. You need to learn the basics on flatwater before you hit anything hard and fast, but there's no substitute for experience in learning how to read the flow of the water.

Basically what I'm saying is just go in and post a bunch and you'll do fine.

once you realize most people know each other offsite (for years) and communicate in other ways than TLS, it starts to make more sense

Getting on a plane to Portland for Lewis & Clark ASW tonight and it's too early to leave so I'm just sitting around watching Curb. Now I kinda wanna just stay here and finish rewatching season 8.

I've always avoided the lounge because it seems pretty misogynistic to me (though I've never investigated in depth to see if that impression is true). I hear there's a pretty cool houseplant thread in there, though.

It definitely is. I got involuntarily dragged into a thread there for empathizing with another woman about asshole dudes. And, unsurprisingly, a bunch of dudes then were assholes. Merely reaffirmed my prior decision to never go in there.
