Has anyone tried negotiating yet? Who did you send the email to? Dean Hoye or the Office of Financial Aid?
Recieved my offer the same day as my t-shirt yesterday! And does anyone know whhen is the best time to start negotiating? Someone mentioned that Dean Hoye said end of the month but should we wait to send our letters until then?
Yes. Send towards the end of the month.

Eta: send to the financial aid email

I'm visiting ALL of the apartments next week over my Spring Break. Can't wait to see what (insanely cheap) apartments Durham has to offer!

When I emailed a week or so after my initial scholarship offer they said they would start reconsideration at the end of the month/April 1

If you're going to be at ASW then, so maybe it would be a good idea to wait anyway so we can say "I have visited and really liked being there" to back up the "i want to go here" argument

Interviewed 3/14 for a scholarship. Checked the status checker today and it went blank (it did have the "decision made, watch for email" message). Is it possible they just forgot to put that the letter was mailed and that an offer is on its way?

Mine went blank on a Friday and the status updated on the Monday, which is when I got the letter. So they send it when the status goes blank.

The update in question showed in the "mailings" section for me, rather than in the status line - the status line went blank. Take a look, see if it says a scholarship was mailed.

I was just checking my status online and a new 'scholarship' box appeared on there though it says: no form received. I sent my needaccess forms 2 weeks ago! Is that normal?

There's a Duke scholarship form on the website that you have to fill out- it takes about a minute.

Just changed my vote. I would put up an "attending ASW?" poll, but I'm actually more interested in the number of + who is planning on attending (at this point at least). Sorry for not being as fun as the other OPs.

eta: feel free to discuss your plans for ASW. I'm taking Thurs/Fri off of work and going to one or two of the optional class visits on Thursday. Not planning on doing much of the apartment tours on Saturday (SO and I will be looking a bit further off-campus and more independently) but am planning on hanging out a bunch on Friday.

Getting there Wednesday night and will be there until Sunday morning. Hoping to find an apartment while I'm there since a current 1L is a good friend of mine. Who is attending the diversity dinner thing Thursday night?

Shameless plug in case anyone plans on living in the Durham area this summer but doesn't want to lock in a full lease for that time period: I plan on subletting my place from around mid-May until the end of July. It's one bedroom in a 3 bed/3.5 bath townhouse. The bedroom is gigantic (700+ square feet, no joke), comes almost entirely furnished (anything that does not fit in a Honda Accord will not be making the summer journey with me), and you'd have your own bathroom. You'd be sharing the townhouse with one other person, an MD/PhD student who owns the place, and it's a three-level townhouse (his room(s) are on the top floor, the main floor is kitchen/living room, and my bedroom is on the bottom level). PM me for pictures and more info if tentatively interested.

I'm coming in for Friday only, but plan to come back with my SO in a month or two (to visit Durham generally and look at housing) if Duke ends up being my final choice. Looking forward to seeing some of you there.

I was thinking about it, but I don't think I'll make it out. I know I should to enjoy as much of this as I can (for the time being), but I think I'm gonna get to bed early so I can hang out late tomorrow night.
