Andy I love you but please don't send me emails unless they're about financial aid.

The Georgetown Law Class of 2019 has nominated the Honorable Mary Margaret McKeown to the position of Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court.
There's a new poll, get to it ladies and gentlemen.

I called in yesterday, the woman I spoke with said that it was "much too soon", but hopefully in the next few weeks. I asked if we'd hear for sure on financial aid offers prior to mid-April deadlines, and she said people should start hearing late-March/early-April (which is strange, since it sounds like the form is coming mid to late-March anyway). It wasn't very encouraging, but that's the info I've got.AMajorChord wrote:any idea when yellow form is coming?def remember the fin. aid guy in January Open House saying Feb 15.

Well, that's just depressing. Thanks for the info though!

Sorry I seem to be out of the loop, what is the yellow form? Is this related to the Yellow Ribbon program or is this a form all students need to fill out for financial aid? I figured all we had to submit was FAFSA and need-access?

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2019
I think (although I'm not certain) that the Yellow Application is GTown's school-specific financial aid app, to be submitted alongside the Need Access and FAFSA. Not all schools I've applied to had this, but most of them have - typically one or two pages long, involving saying "I want financial aid" with a few supplementary questions.skimmilk wrote:Sorry I seem to be out of the loop, what is the yellow form? Until it comes out I won't be sure, though.

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2019
It is a school-specific form that all students seeking financial aid must fill out. There is a full form for those seeking need-based grant aid, and an express form for those only seeking loans. It is laid on on the financial aid office website, the forms just aren't available yet: https://www.law.georgetown.edu/admissio ... I'm going to meet some of you people tomorrow, yes? I assume you will look exactly like your avatars, as I do. I'll be the cat staring at you from a hole in the ceiling.
I have no idea how many people will be there but if you think you figure out who I am just say something appropriately cryptic. If I respond with "sorry, what?" I am me. Because I forgot about this request.

I'll be on the lookout. I'll be the one looking confused, missing the bus, and then taking it in the wrong direction. because that's all I did on my day in DC todayTheKisSquared wrote:I'm going to meet some of you people tomorrow, yes? Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2019
Reminds me of my undergrad where moderately conservative professors got into the occasional spat with radical left wingers. My only concern is that a liberal faculty would reward parroting of their views and give lower grades to arguments they disagreed with, regardless of the quality of the argument. But that probably happens at most schools that lean one way or the other politically.Willie Beamen wrote:Just read the ATL coverage of it, so at the least, glad to be aware what is going on. Thoughts? In terms of it's impact on me/my final decision...none at all.BirdLawExpert wrote:Anyone see this? Thoughts?

Basically a bunch of faculty members shouting at each other on a listserv to the whole student body. Not sure what to make of it.

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2019
Ok, I didn't get the scholarship feeler email, despite being admitted in early November.
So this morning I sent an email to the email for accepted students (hotline@...), in which I asked casually whom I could speak to about the merit scholarship process, while clearly stating that Georgetown is currently my first choice (which is true). (Based on hunting through last year's thread, I saw quite a few ppl who sent that kind of email and as a response got the feeler email - so I figured what the hell.)
A few hours later, I got an email with the subject line "Merit Request Received" that basically said "Thanks for your request, it's been added to your file, we're still putting together initial offers" (PM for full text), but didn't include the "tell us how much $ would make your decision easier" aspect of the feeler emails. It also suggested I apply for need-based aid as well.
Is this a blow-off? Or are there ppl who get scholarship offers without having to beg for dollar amounts? Is it possible the feeler emails go out to YP/borderline admittees, while others get offers without them? (ie, I didn't get a feeler email because they already know what they're going to offer me?)
I don't think I was a borderline admit (my acceptance letter was dated 5 business days after my app went complete, so it doesn't seem like they debated me for very long...)
Thoughts?

Can anyone give a general outline of what to say in an email requesting consideration for $$ if you didn't receive a feeler? Also, what email address we should send our request to?

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2019
I got the exact same email back. I'm a splitter, so I wasn't in the first round. I didn't view it as a blow-off, but more as "noted" type thing. Maybe we will get a feeler in the next round? Looking through last year's thread - seems like some folks got offers w/out the feeler, some got the feeler after requesting consideration for merit aid, soo anyone's guessltbenn wrote:Ok, I didn't get the scholarship feeler email, despite being admitted in early November.

Does anyone know when we should expect to hear back about scholarships after getting the feeler email? GULC is the last school I'm waiting on in terms of financial info
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
