In ancient times, I kept a pile of comic books and old copies of the Economist in the bathroom. Now I have subscriptions to both on my phone; so much more efficient.capricasixx wrote:Wait, is that possible??SlithyTove wrote:Are you going to forget how to do all of these things when you're a student? Ha. Probably should have said "leave the room without my phone." They take it for every drink of water, restroom trip, clinic trip - to the point that it's clear all trips are contrived excuses to spend more time texting or snap-chatting or whatever they do. But kudos to you sir, your bathroom is probably much tidier for your efforts.BirdLawExpert wrote:In ancient times, I kept a pile of comic books and old copies of the Economist in the bathroom. GUYS
I've had the most incredible stroke of luck - I got a jury summons for April 27th! Fingers crossed that I get selected and the trial lasts at least 2 weeks (but not more than four since I'm going on vacation at the end of May).
Yay yay yay jury duty is my favorite/so much better than work!

Is anyone else experiencing a problem with trying to withdraw from schools? One school in particular I have emailed twice (emails a week apart) about withdrawing my app and I am still getting their automatic emails about deadlines/accepting scholarship offers/etc with no response from admissions about my multiple attempts to withdraw. Are we supposed to call or something?

Ditto. My firm does a mock trial for summers and I can't wait to volunteer to be a juror again. I literally get paid for a normal work day to be part of a mock trial, eat free food, and get gift card as a reward for volunteering my time.Bearlyalive wrote:I'll admit, I'm jealous.capricasixx wrote:GUYS

Yes! One school sent me an acknowledgement of the withdraw and STILL keeps sending the financial aid/system emails.archipm wrote:Is anyone else experiencing a problem with trying to withdraw from schools? If a school never gets back to you, are we still okay? I mean, do we even have to withdraw?CJRpnw wrote:Yes! plenty of people don't withdraw... once the deposit deadline passes if you haven't deposited the school just withdraws your appJames.K.Polk wrote:If a school never gets back to you, are we still okay? it mainly just helps others as it opens a spot so the school can accept someone off WL & they have more $ to distribute

This is mainly why I wanted to do it, it isn't helping me to keep the option around and someone else who really wants to go there might be trying to negotiate for that scholarship $$. Also having a tough time with my decision and I think withdrawing apps from places I won't realistically go helps me mentally de-clutter a little and stop rehashing options that ultimately I always decide against.Smallville wrote:plenty of people don't withdraw... once the deposit deadline passes if you haven't deposited the school just withdraws your appJames.K.Polk wrote:If a school never gets back to you, are we still okay? Definitely. I've tried to withdraw from quite a few already; I just want to be sure that if I somehow sent it to the wrong email/don't get confirmation, I'm not doing something wrong...archipm wrote:This is mainly why I wanted to do it, it isn't helping me to keep the option around and someone else who really wants to go there might be trying to negotiate for that scholarship $$. Hmm, you may want to give them a call if they don't respond soon, I sent all mine to the general JD admissions email and got responses from all within a day or two.

same reasons, except I have plenty of windows but my view is of a main road and train tracks... but cant wait to not go next thursday. Some of the people in my office are just torture. Desk next to mine has one of those people who like to think if they start talking randomly no matter how quiet that you are listening and participating in the conversation -_-doublehoohopeful wrote:For me, it was the whole not having to commute two hours a day in traffic just to sit in a windowless room for nine hours thing.lemondrop wrote:CJRpnw wrote:For real. Just hired a bunch of help. I'm basically a supervisor now.
This is not going to do anything good for my senioritis.
