Hey guys. I'm somewhat new here, and I'm sure that this information is available somewhere, but I can't find it.
Do you know how to go about negotiating financial aid with schools like NYU? I'm talking everything from the basics, like letters / emails / what to say / do you mention other schools' offers, everything.
Please help <3

I was hoping to find similar information before going in blind, so happy to help.Simplicius wrote:Hey guys. I'm somewhat new here, and I'm sure that this information is available somewhere, but I can't find it.

On the website where the award is listed, there's an option to appeal (it's a tab up top). There's a text box and an option to attach materials. I believe the correct approach is to make your argument in the text box (how badly you want to go to NYU, etc., but the cost is a problem, etc.), and then attach PDFs of the awards from other schools you're trying to leverage.

Checking in after a 7 month wait. Those of you who received non-named scholly financial aid, how long did it take for the school to send you a financial aid email?
Freaking out just a bit because NYU is my top choice but I have solid offers from other schools that have expiration dates.
I'll probably end up emailing them about it if I don't hear back in the next week and a half or so just because my timelines are getting down to the wire, but just wondering if anybody could shed some light. Thanks.

Re-upping this q. Would love to hear if anyone has had success using Michigan/Duke or even Penn offers.GMW77 wrote:Same question. Could you please let me know if anyone does PM you about negotiation?
justakicker wrote:Has anyone had success negotiating this cycle? And any idea if they'll take into account significantly higher offers from Michigan/Duke? (Not a match, but at least a raise?) Feel free to PM, any response would be helpful!

I've decided that I'll go to NYU if they give me over a certain $$ amount, but haven't heard from admissions on merit aid. Any thoughts on my emailing them and just saying basically "hey, you're my first choice, if you offer me $$ right now I'll submit my seat deposit today."???

Re: NYU Law Class of 2019
I received my scholarship offer about 2 weeks after I was told that I didn't get the RTK. Otherwise, I'm not sure there's a solid timetable. I've heard from people who submitted the Need Access around the same time I did who still haven't heard back.wittywitless wrote:Checking in after a 7 month wait. Does anybody have a general timeline for hearing back after submitting a merit-only aid application?

Been 3 weeks since I was rejected from AnBryce and still nothing on no-named scholarships. The silence is deafening

Since there's not a dedicated thread, just wanted to say good luck to all those who interviewed for named scholarships today. And those of you waiting for other merit aid, good luck to you as well!! I hope we all hear good news soon.

RTK decisions should have started going out yesterday...maybe it's time to start making sacrifices to the TLS gods.
