My Finances tab updated with loan amount and no merit aid just now. However, they told us during the financial aid panel at ASW not to panic, this doesn't mean you won't be offered merit or "gift" aid, just have to wait longer for that. FYI.

Got the same update. Does anyone know how often Berkeley offers merit aid without a matching offer? I wanted to see what they might offer me before submitting a matching offer.Seanasr wrote:My Finances tab updated with loan amount and no merit aid just now. I logged onto the My Finances tab and I think I got my scholly...?
I didn't get any kind of email notification about it, I only even bothered to check because it was mentioned itt. Looks like 30k/year.

Did you submit a matching request? If so, when?gamerish wrote:I logged onto the My Finances tab and I think I got my scholly...?

This is exactly what I am doing. I talked to a financial aid officer who recommended I wait to see what they'll offer me before submitting a matching. So, I imagine it happens.jtg21 wrote:Got the same update. Does anyone know how often Berkeley offers merit aid without a matching offer? Nope. I got waitlisted at the rest of the mid-T14. The only higher offer I have that's eligible for matching is my Butler, which is only $8,000 more for all 3 years. Not sure what my plan is.Applesauce11 wrote:Did you submit a matching request? If so, when?gamerish wrote:I logged onto the My Finances tab and I think I got my scholly...?

Just got my offer! I had asked them to hurry because of an approaching deadline.
Very likely I'm going to Berkeley!

I know we're not supposed to panic, but under "Award Status" (listed under the Financial Aid profile) it says "packaged". So does this mean that they packaged my aid already and all there is are loans?Seanasr wrote:My Finances tab updated with loan amount and no merit aid just now. Also, I really like how under "You currently do not have any gift aid" there's a link that says "Find a Job".

Long time lurker - just wanted to update and say that I checked my finances tab after reading here and got my scholarship. They matched my Michigan offer. Applied for matching scholarship in mid/late Feb.

Got a notification saying that my FASFA is missing...but I emailed them a month ago asking if international students (which I am) need to submit FASFA and they said no. OMG this is so frustrating. And it takes them like two weeks to reply an email.

Mine's exactly the same. I'm really hoping this doesn't mean we're not getting any merit aid... If we sent in a request for matching scholarship are they going to get back to everyone one including those who they don't match? Really hoping they at least give a clear yes/no so we can definitively know one way or the other.Applesauce11 wrote:I know we're not supposed to panic, but under "Award Status" (listed under the Financial Aid profile) it says "packaged". So if there is currently no merit aid in our "MyFinances" tab, there is a possibility that it just hasn't shown up? Do we have any idea when the latest it would show up?

Just asking what everybody else seems to be asking -- is receiving no merit aid "normal"? I've received more than half tuition from SLS and almost a full ride from other schools, so I was a bit surprised to see "no gift aid." Is it too early to shoot them an email? Should I wait? We're all on strict timelines here.

I know they said not to worry about the original posting of loans in regards to merit aid, but what about need-based? I have been expecting need-based aid from Berkeley (especially since they waived my application for need based reasons), but now I am a little concerned that this means I am getting nothing from FA.

Re: UC Berkeley (Boalt Hall) Law Class of 2019
So, it only shows aid for 2016-2017, should I assume that the award is the same for all three years? By the way I applied and was accepted very early, applied for matching in January, and asked them to hurry, so I imagine most awards haven't been given out yet. Could certainly be wrong, but I'd guess that just because you don't have an award listed yet doesn't necessarily mean you won't get one

merit aid is the same amount for all 3 years, and at ASW, they said that need aid can essentially be looked at like renewable scholarships as well....so yes.KiltedKicker wrote:So, it only shows aid for 2016-2017, should I assume that the award is the same for all three years? I just got 22k/yr of gift aid from Boalt. Still haven't heard back about aid from any of my other schools. I'm hoping I hear something soon so I can submit a matching app. I'm happy it's not nothing, but I still don't know if it's worth it.

Re: UC Berkeley (Boalt Hall) Law Class of 2019
Why does it say for the budget on CalCentral that tuition is only 40k? On the regular site it says it's 48K (https://www.law.berkeley.edu/admissions ... ttendance/), and I thought I saw 50 somewhere as the number for next year. Anyone know which is correct?
Also, congrats! That seems like a great outcome, though you'll have to see how it compares to your other options as well of course

The 48k one is right for this year. That's what it says on my calcentral. I'm not sure why it is different on yours. Either way, it looks like you're happy enough with your offer to make it your new number one. Congrats to you as well!
