Yeah, they made it clear after you set up your HLS email to expect all further communication to come through there. I check it daily, and nothing.mollywood wrote:

I tried to log in to the SFS system by creating a PIN with the first-time user option, but was denied access when trying to enter it.maracuya wrote:

I did get the SFS email about financial aid, 2 of them. Unless I'm reading it wrong the financial aid system isn't actually open yet it was just an introduction to it. I also can't log into the myHLS financial aid system.EnderWiggin wrote:I tried to log in to the SFS system by creating a PIN with the first-time user option, but was denied access when trying to enter it.maracuya wrote:

I didn't have any problems when I registered. Unless there is more than one way to do this you shouldn't be having any issues. Click on Admitted Students Weekends and at the top there is a link in red for "Register for the Admitted Students Weekend".mastermoo wrote:Anyone else having trouble registering for the ASW? every time I try to submit it I get a message saying
"Thank you. Your submission has been cancelled."
On another note has anyone been contacted by any profs yet? In my JS2 interview, they told me to expect to hear from a few professors with common interests? Since then, I haven't heard of anything so I'm assuming it's still early, but I wanted to see if anyone else was told something similar as well?

It's still fairly early in the cycle. You'll likely be paired with a prof in a field you expressed interest in during your JS2 (I was, last year, and that's the prof I'm an RA for now, so it actually can be useful and not just frills). I'd expect those emails to come mid-late march onwards, based on last year.

Re: Harvard C/O 2019
+1 I haven't heard from Yale since the admission, meanwhile Harvard has emailed every dayLawyers&Commissary wrote:Part of it likely has to do with their need to fill a larger class than Y or S, and I think their yield rate is lower than Y, though somebody else ITT probably knows better than I do about those factors. As far as you not being a terribly attractive applicant (JS & co obviously didn't agree!), I don't think that matters as far as how hard they'll recruit you. Once they've let you in they want you to attend and its in their best interest to make sure you do.lunixer wrote:Hi all! Only just realized this thread existed when I went to the "applicants" thread to ask this question.
So, does anybody have any idea why Harvard recruits so hard? It's crazy! I'm getting like 3-4 emails per day talking about how great the school is, offering me to connect with profs, etc. Haven't gotten a student call yet, but I'm sure it's coming. And it's not like I'm a terribly attractive applicant -- probably not getting into Yale, and same with Stanford, if I had applied. The other schools that I have been accepted at so far haven't lobbied me with anywhere near this intensity.
Just wondering if there are any theories out there. Anyone get into Y/S so they can compare?
But I think part of it also is that H sells its size (while apologizing for it at the same time). I think the barrage of emails about different profs/clinics/organizations/students serves to support the "you can do anything at Harvard" idea. I'll admit it has impressed me. I can confirm that S recruitment so far has been nothing like H.

Re: Harvard C/O 2019
In the same boat here. Had no idea they did that kind of recruitment before I came on down to this c/o 2019 threadEnderWiggin wrote:Does anyone else find it odd that not all admits received the financial aid e-mail that apparently went out on the 26th? I also haven't received any contact like a student call or anything near the "3-4 emails a day" of recruitment, but I figure that kind of thing is variable. FinAid application opening up seems like an e-mail that would be standardized and sent to all admits.
FWIW also tried to create a login for the SFS portal and was not able to access it. After entering the PIN I created I got a "Sorry, that information isn’t available right now. Please contact the Financial Aid Office" message.

I got an email from a constitutional law professor, which I guess lines up with interests I expressed in my JS2. I haven't heard from any current students or alumni yet, which is a bit of a bummer.teamlam wrote:Perfect, thanks for clearing that up!Indifference wrote:teamlam wrote:I didn't have any problems when I registered. Has anyone who didn't get the Feb. 26th financial aid email heard anything from SFS or been able to log into the financial aid portal? I'm considering calling SFS on my lunch break, but not sure if it'll just tick them off if they're just behind on getting us set up.

If you have questions, call or email the school. Don't worry about irritating people. 1) you're in already, so yeah, don't be an unmitigated asshole, but don't walk in eggshells for no reason, and 2) it's their job.tweedledee wrote:Has anyone who didn't get the Feb. 26th financial aid email heard anything from SFS or been able to log into the financial aid portal? Any suggestions on where to live that are affordable and nice, what I should expect in rent, etc. I've never been to Boston in my life so I'm so lost. Btw my boyfriend is moving in with me so we'll be splitting everything if that helps. thanks

Thanks for the info!maracuya wrote:The SFS portal isn't open. They emailed me back and told me it isn't open yet and that we will receive an email when it's time. Not sure if they are separating it out into groups or if the person who told someone they had received the financial aid email was mistaken, but either way, if you didn't get an email, then it's not open for you yet.tweedledee wrote:Has anyone who didn't get the Feb. 26th financial aid email heard anything from SFS or been able to log into the financial aid portal? The SFS portal is starting to open, it seems. I got my e-mail about it to both my regular and HLS e-mails.

Wow, the waiters thread has really died since the last JS2 wave. It's kinda sad
not nearly enough rain-dancing powers going on for those left behind.

In my experience so far, Harvard's financial aid process has been the most transparent and accommodating of any school and it is still so, so much worse than applying for admission ever was. Future applicants/lurkers, you have been warned.

Just kidding, it's nice and organized to the extent that tracking down a lot of documents can be.
