I love UVA and would be thrilled to attend, but I have a really good offer from a peer school and I just couldn't pick $0 at UVA over it. I really hope they come through on Thursday... If not I guess at least it will make my choice easier.

Same. I knew going in I'd have some debt from law school as full rides are so rare. But I can't do sticker at UVA

Wishing for the best for you all! Missed the priority deadline for filing Need Access since I got accepted not even two weeks before the deadline, which wasn't nearly enough time for me and my parents to get tax stuff together, and need based aid was the only way I had any slimmer of hope of attending. Emailed FinAid and they were just like "it'll be up to the Committee whether they consider your application for need based aid" for anyone else in the same boat.

Hoping that I'll at least be in the running for a merit scholarship on Thursday, but I doubt even that is likely given that I'm a huge reverse splitter.

I am a little behind. Where exactly will we see the financial aid/scholarship info? Is it as simple as clicking the "View Financial Aid" link from the home page of my Student Information System?

I believe so. They'll send us an email when financial aid info is available to view, presumably with a link.

What is considered for need scholarships? Is there any merit involved, like looking at LSAT/GPA?

Is y'all's understanding they are sending out a mass email saying money is posted? And so we will know then if there is something or nothing?

I think I've seen at least one instance of someone successfully negotiating up from 0 to I think 20/year. Not sure how much that anecdote helps, though.

In that FB post copied here a while back the financial aid office said they'd be emailing people in waves as their scholly info is uploaded. Won't be all at once.

So anyone early-binding like me probably has a 0.0% chance I would think...even though I was advised otherwise by people in the know with the admissions process, I just don't see how it plays out any other way. The way it was described to me (former Admissions Committee member) there is no room for negotiation at most schools - they have set amounts in tranches based on LSAT/GPA and just go by this grid.

Can't speak to their formula for awards or negotiations, but I think our only hope is for a small award that allows UVA to increase their percentage of students receiving scholarships. Others on here say that UVA tends to give larger awards to a smaller group of people than other schools, so I wouldn't bet on that either.
