I've been surprised by how much running has "come back" the past 1.5 weeks or so (I ran collegiately, then went cold turkey) but I'll see what happens the next couple weeks as I decide if I want to run hard or not. The marathon is long - the longest I ever did in college was 23, and I was 100x more fit back then. I got in the race for free ("Elite," in the most vague sense of the word) so it wouldn't be a big deal to ditch.
imo you are more at risk for injury due to compressing a training schedule than not being able to do it fitness-wise. My SO trained for a marathon on a similar schedule a few years ago and got pretty bad overuse injuries in his knees because he didn't give adequate time to transition from regular sprints (soccer) to regular distance running.
You definitely are. But in college I was running 120+ miles per week, so I think ramping up quickly to 50 here won't be a huge shock to the system. That said, maybe it will be, and I won't be able to run. But I'd rather press and try for a sub-2:30 than just jog a 3 hour marathon.
"jog a 3 hour marathon"
ok chill yo.

Sorry sorry. I'm definitely overstating the confidence after my workout yesterday.

Sorry for making it sour

I have a very fickle relationship with running.
Where is everyone heading this week? Any fun ASWs?
Also, we need an art update.

I really want to start a c/o 2019 destinations thread but following Gray's work of art last year is the most daunting thing ever

We will love you for taking up the cause. Besides, any graphics you do will be infinitely better than anything I could come up with.

Work is slow, I've ran out of motivation to even netflix. Spent the last hour street-viewing random towns. Only 4 months to go.

I've gone from working from home 1 day a week to 3-4 days a week. I don't know how long I can keep this up before someone notices I'm never in the office and I only have like, two clients.

Oh man, that's cool. Is anyone else experiencing a weird hometown bias? 90% of these look like Southwest Missouri to me...

That was (literally) all I did when I was substitute teaching and yeah they're all south central Michigan to me.

Today is absolutely brutal. It seems like everyone all the shittiest work because they know I am leaving. After attending the ASW last week, it is nearly impossible to carry on. All I can think about is closing this chapter in my life, and the unfortunate result is that I just sit here and watch the time tick by every minute that I am at work. At least it isn't so bad that the time crawls at night though.
23 work days to go. 31 total days to go until I quit this job. Kill me.

I'm sitting in Navy TGPS this week (basically the 5-day mandatory class they make you take to get out of the Navy). Picture Ben Stein rambling on for 5 days about job opportunities in the civilian world. I'm out of the Navy exactly 3 months from today, but I may die of boredom in this class this week.

Oh man, they sent me down to JBSA for something like that when I was getting processed out for my medical discharge, I can't possibly imagine sitting through five days when an afternoon nearly killed me. What are y'all even going to cover for a week?
