It's on a different financial aid website that's personalized to you- when you get the financial aid email they'll give you a link.lolRCscrewyou wrote:Is the place to view awards on the ASW or a different place? I am scowering the ASW and don't see a "My Award" link anywhere.

I was told I'd hear by this Friday.zinnzinn wrote:seagan823 wrote:Anyone get an email about which scholarship/interview slot you have for RTK? I figured they will send them all at once, but thought I would check since we are supposed to hear that this week.
I haven't! I was getting worried that they had called me as a mistake so I'm glad to hear I'm not alone in not having heard about the scholarship/panel!

Has anyone had success negotiating this cycle? And any idea if they'll take into account significantly higher offers from Michigan/Duke? (Not a match, but at least a raise?) Feel free to PM, any response would be helpful!

NYU's financial aid website gets a little weird when if you're already logged into the admitted students site in your browser -- switching to a different browser works, but you can also try logging out of the NYU sites first and then logging back in to the financial aid site to make it work. You may also need to delete cookies for the NYU site if that doesn't work. This took me a bit to figure it out, but you can log in using chrome too!ih8makingscreennames wrote:Has anyone had difficulty logging into that site? I'm just trying to fill out a merit-only form.

Same question. Could you please let me know if anyone does PM you about negotiation?

That's great. I love that they do that. I had a Root 1L reach out via email last week and talked to him on the phone for a good 30 minutes. His advice in regards to the interview was almost identical to what the 2L Root posted on here, but it was good to hear a voice telling me so.obxt wrote:I got an email from a current Root yesterday, so hopefully stuff is going out soon!cannonballer wrote:I was told I'd hear by this Friday.zinnzinn wrote:seagan823 wrote:Anyone get an email about which scholarship/interview slot you have for RTK? Hi, does anyone know anything about the IILJ Lowinson selection process? Not sure what to expect in terms of timeline, impact of the visit on selection, size of scholarship, etc, though I understand they don't do interviews. Any other info appreciated.

Has anyone started looking at housing options/when should we start looking at off-campus housing in NYC?

Good luck with that. I'd say you can look whenever you want, but be aware of how quickly the market can move. If it's something that's loveable and [NYC] reasonably priced there could be someone who is looking to sign a lease that day/move in soon. Know your budget and have all of your proof of income/guarantor paperwork together if you are going to sign a lease. If you're gonna sublet that may be a bit easier.

Seconded. If you're going to be signing a lease, you don't need to start looking until July-ish, really (for an August 15th or Sept. 1 move-in) - the market moves so fast, brokers won't particularly want to talk to you once they find out you're 5 months away from move in. You can set up some viewings in the meantime to get a picture of prices/neighborhoods, but don't expect the exact apartments you see to be around when the time comes.ih8makingscreennames wrote:madoodle16 wrote:Has anyone started looking at housing options/when should we start looking at off-campus housing in NYC?

Where do most people stay for ASW? If you RSVP will they give you a host or do most people just find hotels close by?

Re: NYU Law Class of 2019
Just to offer an alternative POV - I have done the NYC apartment hunt three times now. Each time I was hoping to avoid using a broker, but each time I found it difficult. It's doable, and I certainly know many people who have done it, but it takes extra effort since most listings for decent places will lead to a broker, not the management company. Also, IF you find a good broker (many brokers are totally useless), it can be well worth the broker's fee (and there are many brokers who will work for no fee - the management company pays their commission). The broker I ended up using to find my last place was very sharp, his fee was below the usual market rate, and he showed me places that were much better in terms of value and location than I was finding on my own. Again, many people find great deals without a broker, but it's not easy.Biglaw1990 wrote:Don't use a broker in NYC. You can find listings yourself on real estate websites.rska884 wrote:Seconded. Agreed 100%. It's possible to work without a broker, but definitely takes more effort (unless you know someone in the building already/can talk directly to an employee of the management company on location). Once you find the right broker (which admittedly can take some effort by itself) they're not as bad as made out to be.cbbinnyc wrote:Just to offer an alternative POV - I have done the NYC apartment hunt three times now.
