I just tried to get as close to campus/midtown as I could. I'm sure that Generally probably has a good idea about where to avoid in town, though.janderson821 wrote:Yeah I've found it was much cheaper too but I've never actually used Airbnb so it makes me a little nervous. If you can stay in music row, hillsboro, or midtown area its super easy to just walk to Vandy. Not sure what the pickings are like on airbnb. Don't stay in east nash I would say. It's an annoying commute in my opinion.BirdLawExpert wrote:I just tried to get as close to campus/midtown as I could. Where is good to live 1L year? Ideally I'd like to have access to the Warner parks because I like trail running, do any 1Ls live in the neighborhoods nearest the park?Generally wrote:If you can stay in music row, hillsboro, or midtown area its super easy to just walk to Vandy. O I'm not a student yet, I just live here. I would rather live close to the law school, but the parks aren't too far a drive I guess. Not familiar with the neighborhoods around it as far as prices and all, except for Belle Meade. You could try and live there I suppose, and you have direct access to the park, lowl.mrsomebody wrote:

Are they still renting out Scarrit-Bennet? That was pretty crappy, but also cheap. I think Vandy reimbursed the whole thing because it was only like $50.

Just got out of McKay Used Books, super highly recommend anyone in town with transpo hop on I-40 and go check it out. I bought like $250 worth of books and vinyl for $20.

As long as I'm within 2.5-3 miles jogging of the park, I'll be happy. I read there is a ~12 mile route around the park, which would make a loop+a jog to and from the perfect long run distance.

Didn't get to make it to the dinner, but the reception was awesome. That was a beautiful view of Nashville from the balcony. I wonder if I met any of you.

I'm an accepted student and a Nashville resident. I live in Germantown and love it. Vandy is about 25 minutes away by bicycle and I am near the Cumberland River Greenway. Germantown is also home to the city's best restaurants and an emerging bar scene that is removed from the hipster pomp of East Nasty and the undergraduate shenanigans and congestion of Hillsborough Village and parts of Midtown.mrsomebody wrote:Where is good to live 1L year? Here are some notes about Nashville neighborhoods from a resident since 2006:
- (1) The Gulch: Near Downtown and Music Row... extremely expensive, but close to everything
(2) Downtown: Too expensive and too many tourists, but badass apartments and you're always close to Robert's Western World where you can grab a fried bologna sandwich and a tall boy for $5
(3) East Nashville: Bicycle friendly, very young population, many restaurants and bars to choose from, becoming increasingly expensive, lots of beards and flannel shirts
(4) Germantown: Excellent restaurants, coffee shops, and a growing bar scene, Downtown is a 20-30 walk, houses are super cute, Farmer's Market is walking distance
(5) Midtown: Congested, overpriced, and too many chain restaurants imo, but close to Vandy and many students live here
(6) Music Row: Awesome choice if you can snag the right house or apartment... close to Vandy
(7) Hillsborough Village: Closest neighborhood to Vandy, very expensive, congested, mediocre food and bars, lots of bros
(8) Green Hills: Big houses, families, Whole Foods... nuff said
(9) Nashville West: Target, strip malls... nah

tbh came here for the free trip, but Vandy has surpassed my expectations. The people here are amazing, both admitted and current students. Unsure still if I will bite the bullet to move/attend here, but I am very strongly considering it!

I enjoyed the mock class. I didn't know there was an assigned reading until I showed up, but we went through a Supreme Court decision and a little bit of the dissent. There are a ton of professors, students and administrators available at ASW, so I think it will be a great opportunity for you.Yousirneighm wrote:I will be attending the April ASW, any insights you March folks care to share would be much appreciated!! Spoke to that girl later. She was only 19! I guess the concern makes sense. And I suppose the awkwardness of the question was age appropriate?Lucyfur wrote:lolol.
