Didn't get the feeler email, but was in the first wave of admits and felt decently competitive. This is really putting a dent in my GULC hype....

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2019
Thanks, that's good to hear! I have heard they could be stingy in the past, so it's good to know they are receptive to negotiation. Michigan offered me $ but with the lower cost of living it feels like a lot more. Maybe that's a good jumping point too.Hand wrote:Don't settle for too little, provided you indeed want to go. GULC tends to make comparatively low-ball first offers, but is definitely receptive to leveraging CCN acceptances and $$, as well as $$$$ from other lower t-14s. I got them up to a high number last year, but it took several rounds of negotiating and leveraging offers that I wouldn't have turned down if I wasn't set on being in DC because of spouse's job.TheKisSquared wrote: I'm not expecting money right now (from CCN), but I was hoping to leverage money from lower schools, so a strong offer from GULC would be very very helpful. As a splitter though, I'm sort of resigning myself to luke-warm schollly offers across the board :/
(really wishing Cornell and NU would get back to me...

So does receiving an email today mean we have a realistic shot at $$$ ? Or is it still possible to receive $0 ? Just curious if anyone is knowledgeable about trends in past cycles. I really like Georgetown, but other T14 acceptances would make it difficult to justify attending at or close to sticker.

I don't think they gave anyone $0 who wrote a reply to the feeler email. How much you can expect is a different question, though.coffee247 wrote:So does receiving an email today mean we have a realistic shot at $$$ ? Or is it still possible to receive $0 ? If I am at or above both 75ths, does this help my chances? Or is GULC less predictable than some other schools? I know I'm asking impossible questions. Speculating makes me feel better nonethelessHand wrote:I don't think they gave anyone $0 who wrote a reply to the feeler email. GULC is a lot more stingy in general, so they aren't going to throw around big money just to try to attract someone. You have to work at it.coffee247 wrote:If I am at or above both 75ths, does this help my chances? Or is GULC less predictable than some other schools? I know I'm asking impossible questions. Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2019
They are pretty predictable. Expect to get a smaller offer than what you'll get from comparable schools in your initial offer. If you prefer to go to GULC over other schools, (a) I hope you applied broadly enough to get enough other offers that you can leverage, and (b) you should be prepared to negotiate. However, they seemed to be happy to give at least some money to everyone with an above-median LSAT. Whether they're as willing to give out money depends on what the applicant pool likes like this year--we seemed to have hit rock bottom last year, so they may be a little less generous.coffee247 wrote:If I am at or above both 75ths, does this help my chances? They ended up matching my highest offer, but I did have to work for that. Hmm. If we don't get the feeler email it doesn't mean they won't be open to negotiating with us, correct? I was in the second to last wave of admits and haven't received a feeler email, either.NotoriousRBGJr. wrote:Didn't get the feeler email, but was in the first wave of admits and felt decently competitive. I was admitted in December and haven't received a feeler email yet either...but the general consensus seems to be there is still hope. I'm gonna shoot them an email beginning of March if I still haven't heard anything yet.daisrt wrote:Hmm. I'm wondering if they don't have ideas for the people they're sending feelers to, whereas they do have an idea (for some reason) for the people not getting it. If they know they're going to offer you something fairly competitive in the next few weeks (or something they at this time think is going to be a final offer) they may not bother with that email.daisrt wrote:Hmm. Complete speculation based on my confidence they're going to offer me something and my lack of an email.

I'd love that, but I'm not super confident since I'm a splitter (169/3.3). I'm pretty sure I'll end up at GULC because it's my best option for BigFed, but that decision would be a lot easier if I'm not having to pay sticker.TheKisSquared wrote:

Yeah, same stats as Squirtle, and same situation. Also GULC has every reason to believe based on my application and optional statement that I'd matriculate in a heartbeat if accepted.squirtlesquad14 wrote:I'd love that, but I'm not super confident since I'm a splitter (169/3.3). Lack of feeler email so far likely means nothing there will be more rounds its probably just how they randomly split up the scholarship work they have to do

New poll, time to dream of breaking the Ivy League's monopoly on SCOTUS (unless you pick Katyal or Clinton, in which case don't dream).
