I mean, as much as I love Charizard, I'm definitely jealous of everyone ITT getting Mewtwo
In hindsight, I guess I shouldn't have chosen Red as my favorite game, the Magma badge, and the Fire Stone without fully expecting a fire pokemon

Dude, Mewtwo is obviously the gunner Pokemon, Charizard is for chill 0Ls who are team players.Bearlyalive wrote:I mean, as much as I love Charizard, I'm definitely jealous of everyone ITT getting Mewtwo

Case in point: BenWeasley are currently gunning for this poll, despite the obvious superiority of lilSeBenWyatt.

Wait, sorry, I need a quick sidebar,
Did anyone else just get an email from Wake Forest about an extended application deadline that led with the salutation, "Dear JD Prospects 161 & Above"?
There's no way they meant for that to be the actual salutation, right?

Do you think their email platform has a dynamic field for <FirstName> that they should've used, but some yahoo thought there was a dynamic term to pull in members of a list called "JD Prospects 161 and Above"?
Nah, probably just shitty marketing.

Well I'll be darned. I got Mewtwo as well. I feel like such a dirty gunner. But like the dark side, the power consumes me.
Also, yeah, I think I got that email or some Similar form of it. What was the gist of yours?
Wake has been sending several weird emails. They sent a few to me pre and post application. Off thing about this one is it was sent telling me application deadline is extended but I have already applied lol. So that seems weird

I got charizard too, which makes sense because it was my favorite pokemon growing up--but I'm not sure it really describes my personality.

Got Bulbasaur. I haven't played pokemon since, I don't know, 1999? So I have no clue what this means.

That's crazy cool! i have always been jealous of creative writers. I took a creative writing seminar in UG and it helped me realize just how challenging it is to craft an interesting story from start to finish, build multi-dimensional characters, use descriptive language, etc. I think I'm decent at writing articulately/persuasively, but god my ability to use language in a cool/inventive way was stuck back in middle school. Also, you're probably write that my creatives vs. paper pushers dichotomy was over-simplistic. But I stereotype most lawyers like this guy: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 4&t=261392BirdLawExpert wrote:I mostly write suspense films, the genre in which those films take place varies, but I'm most comfortable with crime stories and very granular science fiction. Occasionally I dabble in comedy, but even that is mostly Coen Brothers-esque in that it's highly stylized and genre dependent. We almost had a pilot purchased by Crackle, Sony's Netflix competitor, but that fell through at the last second (which is what happens most of the time). Film-wise, it's much harder to sell a feature script than a pilot, but I've got a few production companies that are interested in what I've been writing but who also would rather not bear the brunt of the financing.curious bobcat wrote:Do you focus your scripts on a certain genre? Any script ever been bought? (sorry if you've covered this. Haven't read thread thoroughly).BirdLawExpert wrote:
Screenwriting and lawyering seem like polar opposites.
As far as it being the polar opposite to lawyering, I don't know if I'd agree with that. Obviously I don't know a lot about lawyering, but screenwriting involves a whole lot of research, the ability to write well, and the ability to empathize with a given audience. From my limited knowledge, those are three things that are pretty important in law. Also, being familiar with the legal side of things helps immensely if I ever want to start a production company of my own, not that that's my long-term plan or anything.
P.S. Coen Brothers are incredible! They've made some of my all-time favorite comedies (although the recent Hail, Cesear! was a miss IMO). If your comedies are half as good as their material, stay out of law school!
