My book total came out to approximately $250 — rented most from chegg, bought a few used from Amazon, and had to buy 1 from the school bookstore.

300 probably isn't worth one-one hundredth of a GPA point.............and equals about four hours worth of take home pay in a typical BigLaw job.davey jones wrote:still trying to decide whether or not id rather have clean books or 300 more dollars

Then you should save the 300.00. 300.00 is worth less than .01 GPA, but more than .00 GPA (In my opinion). You should not spend 300.00 to mitigate no risk or gain no reward.davey jones wrote:yes but four hours of biglaw pay 3 years from now isnt going to buy me dinner right nowWipfelder wrote:300 probably isn't worth one-one hundredth of a GPA point.............and equals about four hours worth of take home pay in a typical BigLaw job.davey jones wrote:still trying to decide whether or not id rather have clean books or 300 more dollars

what monetary value would you give .01 gpa points, ballparkWipfelder wrote:Then you should save the 300.00. 300.00 is worth less than .01 GPA, but more than .00 GPA (In my opinion). I definitely wouldn't have bought new books at their list price. All my books ended up being new, but I bought "used - like new". My contracts book ended up being $13 including shipping buying this way.ugg wrote:Uhhh yeah who the fuck is buying not used books and why???

Maybe 5,000.00 if a student was already above median at a law school that has their median above 3.2.davey jones wrote:what monetary value would you give .01 gpa points, ballparkWipfelder wrote:Then you should save the 300.00. 300.00 is worth less than .01 GPA, but more than .00 GPA (In my opinion). Re: Abandon A1L Hope, Ye Who Enter Here (1L thread)
Mine with almost all used/renting was just barely south of $600, with no supplements or anything yet. TWO of my professors required completely new casebooks with no previous edition, so those on their own ran up almost $400. V disappointed and also hoping this is a one-time phenomenon.Nachoo2019 wrote:Smallville wrote:any1 else buy/rent/price out their books yet? I just finished ordering most but gunna need to get 2 more when I get to school... looking like its gunna be around $640-660
*this is a post to make us hate schools and the dumb textbook industry
I went all used exept one book and it still ran me $725. I hope this isn't like this every semester.
We had one book bundle that isn't even published yet and you HAVE to order from the school bookstore. It was almost $300

I can't seem to find my book requirements. I guess they will be listed when my classes are posted.

Probably would have more luck looking in your school specific thread, probably varies depending on school.Nolachicken wrote:Where did you all find which books you needed to purchase?
