Great, I sent mine in like 2 weeks later so hopefully I will hear soon. I likely would have applied for Toll, but that invite ended up in spam, resulting in me not having enough time to adequately do all those essays.yschaf wrote:Haha I now realize that was unclear - I submitted my essay Feb 15, and got the acceptance email March 10.ih8makingscreennames wrote:Heard back like you got it or like you have to interview for it?yschaf wrote:Just heard back about Silverman-Rodin a few minutes ago, via email!

That really sucks. This should be something solveable on their end IT-wise, no?ih8makingscreennames wrote:Great, I sent mine in like 2 weeks later so hopefully I will hear soon. IDK. I think it's be cause the S-R was addressed to me, while the Toll was all dear admitted student or something.penn19 wrote:That really sucks. Seconding this, I ruled Penn out after not getting the Wilson, then ended up getting more and am probably going now!jtg21 wrote:Got it -- well good luck! I saw some of the Wilson "alternates" get more in combined need/merit than I did for the Wilson, so I'm sending good vibes your way for a substantial merit one! Same to you James Polk!EnderWiggin wrote:"In addition, our Committee is also considering you for other prestigious scholarships available at Penn Law."
That line from the Levy alternate email made me think the Toll was a good possibility. At this point I'm just hoping they don't rescind my acceptance and send me a bill for all their time spent on saying "nope" to my requests for $$ lol

Yes. I also got an email invitation for the Wilson scholarship as well, so if I end up receiving that I'm not sure how that will affect my current grant.James.K.Polk wrote:Merit and need-based?matterhorn wrote:Got the fin aid email yesterday (admitted 2/26).jg61 wrote:Anyone admitted in February hear about aid yet?

Just in case anyone else is as obsessed with looking at Penn/Philly things for the fall, and is thinking about housing, there's a pre-recorded online housing info session for grad students here: https://upennsas.adobeconnect.com/_a101 ... ode=normal
It's kind of slow and seems like they're really trying to sell Sansom Place, but after 28:00 it gets more useful. And if you are procrastinating at work like I am, it helps feed the Penn excitement

If i haven't received any invitations, my need based summary did not offer any merit based scholly, do you think that is likely all they will offer me? I'm asking because I'm wonder whether i should negotiate right now and try to leverage more money by offering to commit right now or should i wait as the could potentially offer me a scholly even though i received no invites.

+1 if anyone can help us out. I emailed the admissions office and asked if I should expect any merit-based award in addition to my need-based grant. They said I was still being considered for merit-based scholarships. I do not expect to receive any merit-based scholarships, as I am under the LSAT median. However, I still would like to hear someone's opinion on this. I do not want to start negotiating until I know I have their complete first offer.pdevastey wrote:If i haven't received any invitations, my need based summary did not offer any merit based scholly, do you think that is likely all they will offer me? if it helps, I started negotiating before I got a solid offer and received a pretty good amount. I think I would've received in the low wilson-ish range had I not negotiated early. Happy to answer further through PM!jleon25 wrote:+1 if anyone can help us out. I emailed the admissions office and asked if I should expect any merit-based award in addition to my need-based grant. I got the alternate for S-R email and my actual award which I'm not a fan of. I will have to negotiate. If I don't get a number I like I don't think I'll even go to ASW. I may switch and to Gtown.

How long are people going to hold out for merit scholarships? Not nominated for anything but hoping for a dean's or non-named award

Same situation here. I had a visit recently (last week) and met with financial aid. (Guy in charge is super nice, just as a side note). They made it clear its still early and more merit will roll out all the way through the May deadline. I'll also add that I had a really productive meeting with them and discussed offers from other schools etc., so I'd strongly recommend a visit for anyone who's nearbyish and still waiting.tflan19 wrote:How long are people going to hold out for merit scholarships? Seriously? What are you waiting for?
