I wish I could give four months notice.
I feel so lucky. My coworkers (and my boss) have known about law school for over a year. It was probably a stupid idea to tell them but they've been super supportive and my boss wrote me an awesome LOR. Every time I get an acceptance, they throw me a potluck. That doesn't stop me from wanting to quit two months early though...
I want to be a part of this program. I want to be part of any and all food-based programs.

We can all bring food on the same day and share photos of it here! I'll be out next Monday and and Tuesday but I'd be up for a virtual potluck on Wednesday. I make a mean flourless chocolate torte. But if I make that I'll need your addresses to send you some because otherwise I'll eat it all.

In a ziploc. Good choice, gumbo is an excellent potluck food. Will there be shrimp?

Shrimp? You mean crawfish? Shrimp are for rich people.

Pardon me sir; you're the Expert. But I'm pretty sure you're fancier than you claim just because of your use of the word "crawfish" instead of the more acceptably bumpkin version of "crawdad".

Well, when you said Gumbo I imagined you making it with Troy Landry BirdLaw --- and both of you talking like this while looking for Gumbo ingredients.

Also,

I know what I am bringing... Breaded Peach Cobbler and Pee-Can Pie! Eat your Buttery heart out Paula Dean.
Or should I bring Gladys Knight style Chicken and Waffles???

Same here - the expectation is that people in my position will move on to school or other positions after a few years, but I'm the first one in a while going to law school - my boss is super excited he finally got one again. Doesn't make me want to leave now any less though...
Do you get potlucks? Food helps the time pass. :D
No potlucks for me, although I've gotten a few nice dinners from the boss while discussing applications/results/attendance. I can't complain.

I told my boss I would be leaving for law school during my interview. Been keeping a few people in the office posted on my cycle. When I got my JS2, the entire office surprised me a few hours later with a cake (even had my name on it!). Evidently we're supposed to go out to celebrate when I choose what school I'm going to. My job isn't perfect (long hours, long commute, etc.), but I still think I really lucked out, because the people here are great.

ETA: my appreciation for my position doesn't mean I don't still spend a good portion of my workday lurking TLS

I'm under no legal obligation to discuss my connection or lack of connection to the Landry family. :D

That being said, if you get me and my cousins out on a boat in the swamp y'all'd probably need subtitles to keep up.

Pfffft. I haven't even been given meaningful tasks for the past 3 weeks. Sometimes I question why I'm still even here at my job.
Yeah, my firm would probably slowly start collapsing around me if I just stopped working without telling anyone haha. People would notice pretty quickly. Actually kind of nervous what I'm going to come back to when I take some days off to go to some ASWs...
