Sorry to hear that. Now come give the senioritis thread the Sour Grapes award it's been waiting for.EnderWiggin wrote:RTK ding received via e-mail just now. Sad of course, but happy to finally get an answer after 4 months of silence!

Man, so sorry to the RTK dings
hope you'll get generous non-named merit aid!

Admitted 12/1, did not apply to any named scholarships, still waiting.annaliesman wrote:are any other people still waiting for their merit scholarship offers? I was admitted in late january and still haven't heard anything

I was accepted in the first wave and just got my RTK ding - I'm imagining it's somewhat rolling but that you should hear in the next two weeks based on past years / the fact that the interviews tend to be in early April, I believe.annaliesman wrote:are any other people still waiting for their merit scholarship offers? ETA: That is named merit, sorry. Once you get dinged from your named merit if you applied, I think then you get generally considered for a Dean's Award/regular merit aid. I imagine it's the same if you interview and are turned down for named merit.

Also in the club. Awaiting an AnBryce ding so the merit aid ball can get rolling. I submitted my NeedAccess and FAFSA months ago so hopefully I don't have too long of a wait.annaliesman wrote:are any other people still waiting for their merit scholarship offers? Can anyone who went to the ASW tell me on which day the housing tour (if there was one) was on? I don't see it on the tentative schedule online and that's pretty much the most important part of ASWs for me.

They did it as part of the campus tours on Thursday, and I believe did it again Friday morning (although I'm not sure).gamerish wrote:Can anyone who went to the ASW tell me on which day the housing tour (if there was one) was on? Although I will say, for the price I'd just live off campus and commute... Easier for me as a current NYC resident, but figured I'd mention.

Re: NYU Law Class of 2019
I think I'll plan on commuting (if I attend), as my current rent is <$500 cheaper per month than the cheapest NYU dorm option. Getting to the law school would be a shorter commute than I currently do every day for work, so it'd be hard to justify.rska884 wrote:They did it as part of the campus tours on Thursday, and I believe did it again Friday morning (although I'm not sure).gamerish wrote:Can anyone who went to the ASW tell me on which day the housing tour (if there was one) was on? For those who would be coming from out of town, I think it would be possible to tour apartments and lock one down in under 1 week. The market moves quickly here, so I think logistically it would be feasible, and better to spend several hundred dollars on a hotel for a week and then save a ton each month.
I'm pretty sure I'd sink the difference in rent into keeping my Equinox membership... I can't go without.

Re: NYU Law Class of 2019
Am I going to have to be that weird person who tries to recruit a fellow law student roommate via TLS?
Answer: Yes.
A little over $1k in Brooklyn, 25-35 minutes from NYU, 1.5 miles from Prospect Park (BK's version of Central Park). If you like having a kitchen that doesn't double as a living room, a quiet neighborhood with tree-lined streets, PM me.

I'm not moving. I actually like commuting because it gives me time to read the NY Times and wake up. Also, the view from the bridge. <3 <3 <3 No better way to begin a morning and end a night.
I looked at apartments for about three hours before I found mine (granted, the apartments I saw were really, really terrible).

But yeah, the prices on the NYU housing are nowhere near worth the accommodations or being in the Village, especially when I'm going to be in so much debt already. If I attend NYU, I'd much rather keep my commute (it'll also be shorter than my current one) and pay half the price. I agree people would be able to lock down an apartment if they came for a week in mid July (for an August 1st move-in) or early August (for a Sept. 1st), and if you look in the right places you can avoid the broker's fee too.
I know a lot of people I met on campus were adamant that living next to the law school made it worth it, but it seemed most of them didn't realize lower rents were an option if you get out of the village...

I'm not sure if this is the right place, but does anyone have any insight on the format of the RTK interview? I understand that it's a panel interview. I am curious if it's mostly questions about your work experience, chosen focus, or situation-based questions, etc. I am getting so nervous and I want to start preparing as intelligently as possible.

I think a current student had a long post on this a few pages back - might be misremembering which scholarship it was for, but worth taking a look back a little ways.zinnzinn wrote:I'm not sure if this is the right place, but does anyone have any insight on the format of the RTK interview? Is anyone still waiting on an answer either way about RTK? I haven't been dinged (condolences to all those who received the news!), and haven't been invited for an interview. Literally about to melt into a pile of mush, and am just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat.

I am, and according to last year's thread this is still within a normal timeframe to be waiting. Good luck!tweedledee wrote:Is anyone still waiting on an answer either way about RTK?
