Re: Michigan Law c/o 2018
Excited for the Michigan ASW coming up!
1) If I were to cab from the airport, do I need to book it in advance or can I just get one right when I walk out? Anyone know rates from Airport to the law school?
2) Anyone want to err walk the jogging tour of Ann Arbor with me - I can't actually jog 3 mils

If you prefer taking a cab, that's fine (sorry, no experience with that!) But if not, I definitely recommend the Michigan Flyer bus that UMich recommends. It's clean and there's wifi on board, plus it runs at lots of different times. I booked tickets in advance and it was easy. It's $12 each way, which is probably much cheaper than a cab is going to be for you.ChemEng1642 wrote:Excited for the Michigan ASW coming up!

This is the bus I booked and it cost $22 round trip, which I believe would be a lot cheaper then a cab.hillz wrote:If you prefer taking a cab, that's fine (sorry, no experience with that!) Also there's apparently 90% chance of thunderstorms this weekend so they might not be doing the jogging thing.

I went to the March ASW and took the Michigan Flyer bus, and was very happy with it. It was $12.00 each way, on time, and you could take an earlier bus if it wasn't at capacity. I would recommend as well.hillz wrote:If you prefer taking a cab, that's fine (sorry, no experience with that!) But if not, I definitely recommend the Michigan Flyer bus that UMich recommends. To those who were at the March ASW, are there any events you recommend us April ASWers make sure to go to?

Re: Michigan Law c/o 2018
Thanks everyone! I guess I should clarify - I'm getting reimbursed so price isn't an issue. My flight (and my SO's) gets in at 11:30 and the next bus isn't until 12:30 and I'd rather not sit around for an hour (although knowing me my flight would get delayed and I would miss it anyway ). If it's $100 each way or something though then I definitely WONT cab.hillz wrote:If you prefer taking a cab, that's fine (sorry, no experience with that!) I did something similar when I was there in March (flight came in an hour earlier than bus) and it wasn't bad, if you end up having to do it. It made me feel a little more at peace since there's always a chance of delay and the DET airport is actually pretty nice.ChemEng1642 wrote:Thanks everyone! I am planning on negotiating scholarship soon and I will also be attending the admitted students day this coming weekend. Would it be odd to try and negotiate in person with the financial aid office while in Ann Arbor? Would it be better to just do the traditional e-mail negotiation?

Re: Michigan Law c/o 2018
I think it's fine to try to start negotiations in person. I talked to a couple people who had made appts to do that while they were there at March ASW (no idea how successful they were, though). Just make one of the financial aid appts and bring your paperwork to talk about it.Shyguy4 wrote:I am planning on negotiating scholarship soon and I will also be attending the admitted students day this coming weekend. As someone who has flown in/out of DTW from Ann Arbor every weekend for the past three ish months, I can further vouch for the awesomeness of Michigan Flyer. An hour before a bus isn't bad--by the time you deplane, use the restroom, get to ground transportation, etc. you don't end up waiting that long. A cab will usually run you about $60-65 before tip. And the bus is quite a bit more comfortable.

I'd say go to the event the trivia event they have Thursday night. They had something different for our ASW but I think the point is the same - it's not specifically an ASW event so it's a nice way to observe the Michigan Law community.pylon wrote:To those who were at the March ASW, are there any events you recommend us April ASWers make sure to go to?
Other than that things that I found helpful/enjoyable included the Clerkship panel, the lunchtime Summer Start info session (obv. this is only applicable if you're a summer starter), and the mock class. And in case you were planning on skipping either of the dinners I thought they were really great ways to talk to current students.
The only thing I found to be an absolute waste of my time was the housing panel.

Anyone going over this week's Preview weekend schedule? I'm pretty excited! These three days at work will fly by
The more I read about it, Munger Graduate residence sounds like an ideal option to me - staying close to school, but with an option to cook.
Anyone else applying for Munger, or living there now? When is it considered "late" to apply for either Munger or the Law Court?
Also, any recommendations for things to do on/around campus during a ~2-hour free time block after the preview weekend?

When I look at the Admitted Students website, under Financial Aid, only tuition rates for 2014-2015 are posted. So, what is the tuition rate for 2015-2016? Thank you.Shelbinole wrote:yes it's on the Admitted Students website!Law1491 wrote:Has the tuition for 2015-2016 been already announced?

Another option would be the Ann Arbor Airport Shuttle, annarborairportshuttle.net, also mentioned on the Michigan website. Door to door service was prompt and communication good.
