Don't worry, they denied me too. Granted I'm not actually a member of your class, but still, there are over 20 other upperclassmen in there.

I may be late to the party but last year I asked housing to start my lease a couple days earlier and they did with no issue. Granted, I had to pay a per day fee of about $30 (I am not 100% sure).Lavitz wrote:Then you should arrive when your contract starts. Also FFS. Just realized Wilco will be playing in Ithaca's State Theatre on 9/23, but all the good seats are gone

Probably beginning of next week.smiles123 wrote:Should we been getting our section assignments/schedules soon?
As an aside, I will apparently be speaking at a panel at AOP. That should be entertaining for those of you going.

2L here (feels weird to say it). If anyone from the incoming class is coming to town early and wants to meet up at any of the bars that haven't burned down yet, shoot me a pm.
I'll give you the rundown on this place we call cornell law school.

Any last minute admitted students looking to stay in a Large Bedroom in Hughes Hall let me know! I am looking to move out to live with a friend. Prime location to prevent walks in the cold!

Hello everyone! I have spent ages reading TLS and finally decided to come out and say "hello" before the semester started. I'll be arriving in Ithaca in just a couple days and I'm really looking forward to it!
(Also, I was genuinely sad to read about the Chapter House's burning down. It's like losing a brother you never knew you had till after he passed away

Does anyone have advice on when I should buy books? Should I do it now, or wait until I get on campus for an upperclassman to sell me used books?

Your choice. Can compare used or new prices between Amazon, Cornell Store, Kraftees and myronslist.TheatreofDreams wrote:Does anyone have advice on when I should buy books? Should I do it now, or wait until I get on campus for an upperclassman to sell me used books?
You should buy used when available because there's no real benefit to spending more money on new unless you're really picky about underlining and highlighting. Upperclassmen should list books on myronslist. Or they'll ignore myronslist and just spam everyone with e-mails again. Either way, as long as it's a book upperclassmen used last year, you should be able to get it before classes start if you do wait until you're here.

Re: Cornell Class of 2018
Never had any of these. Except Clermont but that was in Spring.future!jd12 wrote:Upperclassmen - need your help. Below are my professors, please advise with any useful hints/recommended supplements! Thanks![]()

Lawyering - you need no supplements.
Wendel - idk, I heard he recommended either the E&E or forms and fuctions of tort law. But really, torts is a class that doesn't require supplement use at all.
Contracts - Just buy Hillman's hornbook. Everyone will give you this same advice. And 2nd vs. 3rd edition shouldn't matter if you want to save money. Probably applies to any contracts prof. They're all using his casebook. Any other supplement is superfluous.
Clermont - lol, good luck. There are a ton of supplements you could theoretically use here. I just read his black letter outline and did the siegel's multiple choice book and did well, but that was in Spring. I've also heard good things about the Freer treatise and the Barbri lecture videos.
ConLaw- Chemerinsky works for pretty much any prof.

I believe my schedule will look like this...
Con Law - Dorf
Contracts - Hillman
Civ Pro - Holden-Smith
Torts - Bowman
Lawyering - Atlas
Decent set of classes/professors, or should I start despairing?

Re: Cornell Class of 2018
Depends. If you were hoping to slack off, then I guess despair, because Dorf, BHS, and Atlas are all intense. BHS in particular is the most feared cold-caller. But they're also all awesome. Dorf and Atlas would be great clerkship recs. Hillman is also the best contracts prof imo. I mean, it's his casebook.asterisk wrote: I believe my schedule will look like this...

So lineup's great, although I've heard mixed reviews of Bowman.

Re: Cornell Class of 2018
As a reminder, you can figure out which letter section you are by looking at this calendar: https://support.law.cornell.edu/student ... hedule.pdf
So going by Lawyering sections if you have:
Atlas, you're A.
Freed, you're B.
Whelan, you're C.
McKee, you're D.
Bigoness, you're E.
Mooney, you're F.
