Hey, I don't care if they have one, I was just commenting on something that many people have noticed on these forums that might help in the negotiations. They asked me where I've been accepted, then they spent the entire visit putting down Columbia and telling me how Yale can only produce academics with no practical skills. It did seem unprofessional and left a sour taste in my mouth, but considering I'd like to work in Chicago, I'm not too fussed about it. However, it seems like you could potentially use that against them for negotiations.

I got 35k total Zuko, so I'm in the same boat as you.

WOW! honestly I am even more surprised by yours than mine! At least I am in good company though

Oh, it wasn't rude at all. I am just glad to be getting any type of advice

I will definitely negotiate, as it's one of my top choices!

I think Chicago is either really cheap this year (doubt it with decline in applicants) or more likely they are relying on people negotiating up to get higher numbers - as a sort of YP thing.

http://chicago.lawschoolnumbers.com/app ... cholarship seems to support this, outside of Rubies no one is over 75k this year (last year lots of 90-120)

Need help guys!! Really like Chicago, but now trapped in a dilemma of choosing between Mordecai at Duke vs. 90K at Chicago. Any suggestions? I love both of them so it all bears down to the better placement at Chicago vs. big bucks at Duke....

you can make a choosing thread if you want, and probably everyone will tell you that chicago is not worth the gigantic pile of extra debt you'd take on

I would personally choose Mordecai, unless you have some strong aversion/pull to one of the regions.

I'm dealing with a similar situation, although sadly with less money on the table. I love the idea of Chicago but I am having a hard time justifying the extra 30-60k in debt.

Chicago has been fairly open to negotiation in the past. I'd try to get them to up their offer before worrying about the trade-off. If they're firm, probably Duke.

You have to have a laptop, but there's no requirement that you get a new one.

Does anyone know of/whether someone has put together stats about the "yield rate" for Rubies? I've looked in previous threads but am curious to see whether someone pulled specific numbers about many people choose HYS (or Hamilton or something else) over it.

Also, my understanding from digging through some old TLS threads is that the Ruby is primarily a (very huge) financial benefit, right? Employers will still care more about grades than the Ruby? Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
