Anyone else hoping for the Furman Public Policy scholarship? They started the program only last year and distributed two of them. The program looks awesome.

Yep. The interviews take place March 28. You must decide by April 1, which is kind of a bummer. Last year people reported being invited to interview on Tuesday, March 11. So it seems we have awhile.curlietop86 wrote:i am! no idea how applying to that program works though, outside of the essay - do you know if you interview for it like RTK?FloridaCoastalorbust wrote:Anyone else hoping for the Furman Public Policy scholarship? Wouldn't you have to enroll to get those?

Some schools do give them to admitted students (Harvard is one) but I don't think NYU does. I could be wrong though.Skool wrote:Wouldn't you have to enroll to get those?

Does NYU provide travel stipends for ASWs?

I called today because I wanted to apply to housing as soon as possible, and she let me know they're a little behind but to expect something this week.arock111 wrote:anyone get their NetID or NYUID yet?

Is this something I should be worried about in terms of not getting housing if I apply too late?lexsi340 wrote:I called today because I wanted to apply to housing as soon as possible, and she let me know they're a little behind but to expect something this week.arock111 wrote:anyone get their NetID or NYUID yet?
What about three-person apartments, are they random or self-selected?

Re: NYU c/o 2018
I looked around the admitted students site and couldn't find any information on stipends for ASW. I guess someone could call them, but that would look a bit odd coming from someone who lives 20 minutes away.Eladriel wrote:+1tonysoprano wrote:Does NYU provide travel stipends for ASWs?
On the bright side, I did find out that the school provides lockers for commuting students which, combined with the bike storage facility and shower in Wilf Hall*, makes me a happy camper.
*I haven't actually been able to confirm that the bike storage/showers are available for students. They might just be for the Law School staff....

From the website it looks like if you apply before May 15th the timing of when you submitted doesn't matter. "The actual date of application for those applying prior to May 15 is not considered when processing individual assignments. Entering students are assigned via an assignment, not a lottery, process." I was worried about this too but unless you want family housing there doesn't seem to be a huge advantage to applying as early as possible.

God those monthly rent payments to live in a 200 sq. foot apartment are terrifying.

"Applications from incoming students for family units, due to the fact that the demand for these types of accommodations exceed the supply, will be weighted on the basis of the geographic location of the student prior to matriculation at the Law School and the date of receipt of the student’s housing application. All family housing spaces are proportionately distributed among the various degree programs."
This makes me sad.

Outside of filling out NeedAccess, is there anything else that needs to be done before being considered for merit/need aid? Once that's done, just wait?

Just bought my flight and registered for the March ASW - hope to see some of you there!
Will probably be asking them about a travel stipend soon - will report back here unless someone already has that info!

I called and they said it's need-based and that you have to file the NA to be considered. I believe they may have also said you have to contact their office to let them know you're interested in obtaining a travel stipend after you've filed NA. I'm not 100% on that second part, but I can't imagine it would hurt to show interest if they're going to be looking at your finances anyways.ChemEng1642 wrote:Just bought my flight and registered for the March ASW - hope to see some of you there!
