yeah that wasn't very clear. all I'm saying is that M expects you to negotiate with them on $$$. like matching other schools and stuff like that.

That's basically the complete opposite of what my email said:
"Please be aware that once we have awarded a merit scholarship, it is not our practice to “compete” with awards from other schools. But while we do not increase merit awards once they are made, we would be very happy to discuss any concerns you may have about financing your education."
Curious how and when y'all plan to approach negotiation? In person? Phone? Email? Seems like March is the best time so hopefully I'll have a competing offer with another school by then.

I was in the first week of admits and I did not get a scholarship e-mail today. I believe they're going in chronological order...should I should consider myself stiffed?

Chronological order in terms of amount offered? I don't think that's the case, because there have been some mixed amounts reported so far (75k, 90k, 120k). Maybe it will take them a few days to send them all out?

Checking in. Would people appreciate info re: housing/neighborhoods, restaurants/bars, how to get around, where to stay when you visit, etc.? I did my undergrad here.

I believe what he meant was chronological order in terms of getting money or not. If that's the case, I might wanna say: no, don't lose hope. This could be exactly like what happened during the admission process: someone who completed later than me heard back earlier than I did.

Perfect! Do you think Phid House is a good option for summer sublet? or do you think there might be better place during summer? Summer class starts on May 27th, when do you think I start to look for summer sublets? Thank you very much and welcome aboard!

Are you talking about this?
http://abovethelaw.com/2012/11/weve-alr ... raternity/
Depends on what you want. I don't know anything about Phi Delta Phi house but I know a fair amount about off-campus sublets in Ann Arbor. Sublets are VERY easy to find and are cheap/negotiable. Nearly all leasing companies do 12 month leases that end in the last week of August, so plenty of people are looking to rent out their rooms.
They start to get posted around now. The best thing IMO would be to go during ASW and just ask people if they know someone who's subletting - that way you can see the place in person. Otherwise, you can look through craigslist or post on the facebook undergrad "class of 20XX" page. I still know plenty of people there so if you haven't found anything by April you can msg me and I'll hook you up.
The closest areas to the law school are south U, south state, and south forest if need to narrow down your search

Checking in! In at the end of December, incredibly excited. For those of you who have already submitted your Lawyers Club applications (or are thinking about it), are there any disadvantages to applying early (such as having to put down a sizeable deposit)? Can any current students speak to the advantages/disadvantages of the LC? (Sorry if this has been covered).

You don't have to put anything down to apply for LC- or even have deposited at the school yet.

And yes that's what I meant. Normally I wouldn't be so quick to worry but their tweet "News from #FinAid: now reviewing Oct/Nov/Dec admits for merit aid! After catching up, will proceed with new admits on rolling basis" seemed to imply they were reviewing merit aid based on when people were admitted.

Summer Starters/ED admits:
We're nearing the January 15th deadline to secure our seats in the class of 2015 (for EDers)! I went ahead and made a Facebook group for Summer Starters. I figure it might be easier to coordinate housing/such and get to know one another a bit before we start law school!
You'll need to create a Michigan email address to join, but once you've got that taken care of you can join here:
