Nope, that's just how my brain works! I clicked checkout and was like, "well, that seals the deal, I'm going to Wash U." (Because I will actually be able to fit a stand mixer in an apartment in St. Louis, unlike in DC.) Just thought it was random and amusing.

ETA: OMG and it's GREEN! Which is Wash U's color! Didn't even think of that. Clearly meant to be.

In other news if anyone wants a cute GULC hoodie I have one to give away :-/

Yes. Congrats! My household actually has 2 right now and it's amazing. Mom's is the normal one and I have a 7 qt commercial one, along with the pasta roller, meat grinder, and veggie shredder attachments.

I don't use the veggie attachment much because mom has a pretty great food processor. I have used the meat grinder several times to make turkey sausage (cut half a turkey for sausage, roast the other half), and the pasta roller I really only use for fondant. Haven't used it for pasta yet.

Every time I get a new gadget it just gathers dust. Too difficult to extract from the nether reaches of my kitchen each time. Immersion blender, CuisineArt - even the mandolin - all are just too difficult to get to regularly.

Unrelated: There's really no love for Emory at all here, is there.

A stand mixer and by that we of course mean the Kitchen Aid stand mixer isn't a purchase, it is an investment in a life long kitchen necessity. You get one as a wedding gift or some day you remember. In pictures of kitchen it is never hidden but placed out to see.

Even simple things like cans of ready made frosting when put into your stand mixer come out as whipped and fluffy goodness on last minute baked treats

Oh wow, I never thought of using a pasta roller for fondant. Brilliant. And an even more unhealthy use for it than pasta!

This. It's like a status symbol. Should be out in the open on your counter. Unless you have 2, we usually keep one put away unless I'm doing cakes.

Emory was pretty stingy, at least for me. They were the first one I crossed off my list. Also their refusal to extend deadlines/negotiate at all didn't help.

Have you ever used a KitchenAid stand mixer? It's definitely justifiable. If you must though, there are usually sales on them around Christmas time.

I've used my mom's. And I mean, obviously they're way better, but I don't think I'd use it that much. I just WANT ONE for when I DO. Basically, my life is extremely difficult.
