I wouldn't really expect anything w/r/t need-based aid. What you get in the email and subsequent negotiations is what you'll get. The rest of the application stuff is really just for loans (w/ the only somewhat need-based thing being Perkins loans).

Got a scholarship worth a substantial amount.. which was pretty shocking as I have no reportable GPA.

Sadly the amount's not enough to sway me away from other schools that provide needs-based aid + institutional loans though :( I feel sad, as Chicago definitely was one of my top choices had it not been for financial constraints

could be good news...

Congrats to all the scholarship recipients ITT!!
How so?

I also didn't receive an email.
Second wave of Rubensteins hasn't gone out yet. Wisdom is you are out of the running if you get another scholly award. A lot to hope for but you never know!
This. Also there are always 20 Rubensteins, so if one of the original selections turns it down that money will roll around to someone else.

Yeah I can definitely relate, that institutional loan is a very big plus for international students. I wish more top schools would consider offering them to internationals, I cannot imagine it is a very big long term cost.

I dunno my plan is to just run away back to the old country once loan payments kick in; are you telling me you actually want to pay 'm off?

Lol I'm pretty sure I'm not getting a Ruby - it's probably because I was accepted in Feb.

Just to echo others, you (and everyone else) should negotiate. It's still very much a sellers market here.

Are there only two waves of Rubies? (I'd never receive one; just interested)

Wow, great news for anon. IIRC non-Ruby scholarships come out in waves too, right? Does anyone know roughly how long it might take before the next batch is released?

Hmm is it possible to negotiate when there are no other merit-based scholarship offers on hand!? I have no leverage as Chicago was the only one kind enough to offer me a scholarship (until now)

If not, I will withdraw so the scholarship money isn't held up under my name for too long; it should go to a better cause (i.e. to people ITT)
