If you use "misanthrope trope" on the Corp. exam, I will buy you a meal and two drinks at a seedy--D.C.--bar of your choosing on Dec. 17.

ETA: It must be a legit usage/make sense--judged by a neutral 3d party--and not thrown in for the sake of the offer.

I can't get over what a terrible opinion this is. Thought you were better than this gray
When you're an adult, what else is there about Christmas that's so great other than the free time?
Spending time with your loved ones? Knowing that people care about you enough to know what kind of things you want as a gift? Seeing the joy on little kids faces as they see santa at the mall or wake up to presents? The general kindness of humans to one another after a really shitty year?

Ugh Hikko I know you're just playing the misanthrope trope here to get the response but damn how can you seriously suggest this Christmas is so good.
Time with family is purely a function of the amount of time off. Like I said, gift-giving mostly confuses me. Don't care about stranger kids or ideas of general kindness (unless it nets me free food).

Can I get a similar offer? I can take a picture of the exam next semester, and I'd be happy to send you receipts.

I will stop derailing the 2L thread after this, but for Hikko and ITFR, just wanted to give you a heads up that we added a holiday card option to Secret Santa this year. If you can't give this year (because money is super tight or you're going to be super busy, NOT because you're Scrooge) then you can send your Santee a holiday card and still get gifts from your Secret Santa.

I will extend a modified offer to you, Hikko.

Modifications:
-I would like a full copy of the exam with a guarantee that it is the exact same text submitted for a grade in your class. This guarantee must be signed by you, Hikko, and notarized by an official U.S. Notary Public.

-The tab for the meal and two drinks cannot exceed 10,000 Chilean Pesos. A guarantee must accompany the receipt stating it is authentic and the food and drinks were consumed by you, Hikko. The guarantee must be signed you, Hikko, and notarized by an official U.S. Notary Public.

-The notary public costs and the mailing costs will be paid by you, Hikko, and you will not be reimbursed.

I appreciate the lack of a comma in this song title. The aggressive and cavalier tone rejects the reasoned and careful approach hammered into us. I will support this band.

I think I've discussed types of cheese that belong on a grilled cheese today more than I have outlined, read, or worked on my note deadline that is in 7 hours

Can we get a summary of the cheese discussion? Preferably before you do other work.

Standard rules:
1) All grilled cheeses should involve Italian bread, cream cheese, and an equal blend of white and yellow cheeses.
2) All grilled cheeses should involve the use of real butter, not vegetable spread.
3) All cheeses must include dairy.
4) Never stack whole slices of cheese, always rip your cheese into smaller bits and layer with shredded cheese.
5) Only cut a grilled cheese into triangles, never rectangles.

Cheeses to use in order of meltability rating:
Anything with the word Jack in it. (colby-jack, monterrey-jack, cheddar-jack, pepperjack, etc.)
Mozzarella.
Provolone
Muenster.
Cheddar.
Ricotta.
Havarti.
Gouda.
Parmesan.
Swiss.

Cheeses to avoid:
Kraft American.
Goat.
Non-dairy cheeses.
Feta.
Blue.

Let the debate begin.

There is no debate; R 1 is objectively wrong. If you have to ask why, there is no reason for me to discuss grilled cheeses with you.

hard (e.g. gouda) goat cheese is an excellent cheese to put in your grilled cheese

best bread obvs a good rustic sourdough with a nice crust

I agree with this, despite having almost no experience with grilled cheese. Seems like this would have a better texture than the grilled cheese I had occasionally growing up.

In my defense, I only suggested the equal blend of white and yellow cheeses. My opponent suggested the italian bread and cream cheese. I do find cream cheese to be amazing on most grilled cheeses but not a necessity. These were simply the negotiated rules and I had to give in to get things such as Rules 2 and 5.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
