I posted this in the Chicago Admittance/Rejection/Waitlist thread.

But admitted 1/20/15, received scholarship info today.

My numbers are on LSN under a different username--but what the hell. 168. 3.92. 30K.

It was better than NYU's offer by 5K and pretty good considering below LSAT median by 2 points.

Also-- has anyone seen this?

Scholarships are given to students to incentivize them to attend that school. They don't need to incentivize you at all. If you're such a special snowflake maybe you should reapply RD next year.

TBF I am ED, but I am also URM, and also NA, and based on some URM stats I am at the 75ths for URMs. I also would be the only NA student at the law school as far as I know, and I also have extremely strong and unique softs. I understand why they don't give giant piles of cash to ED applicants historically, but...

Yeah, I know they can't do it for everyone, but seriously - they have zero NA representation. That's worth at least some money.

Also, I answered my own negotiating question. From the website:

We understand that financial considerations are often a significant factor for an admitted student in deciding which law school to attend. While we do not have a matching scholarship program, we are committed to mitigating financial concerns for those who are truly interested in studying law at UChicago and are happy to learn more about your circumstances. You may request a review of your financial aid package by emailing financialaid@law.uchicago.edu. We will send you a link to an electronic form where you can provide additional information about your situation, including other scholarship offers that you are seriously considering. We will review these requests the week of April 20-24. Please note that we simply do not have the ability to adjust all scholarship awards, but we are still very interested in discussing your situation and alleviating your concerns.

Come on, he's not going over to an applicant forum and telling everyone to ED. He's asking for some commiseration (and with lower stats and reapplying after ED, sitting out another cycle for RD probably wouldn't help). This isn't a thread with some idiot with a 145 on the LSAT that needs to be talked out of leaping into a dumpster fire, we really don't need to have that tone.

Also, I would personally, as a c/o 2018 member, really like this thread to be positive and not have everyone hating each other before we even matriculate. So let's play nice.

Can't hurt, they sound more sympathetic to finances (at least online) than a lot of other schools.

Disclaimer: I don't know anything.

However, I have a strong feeling that they'll give you at least something if you tell them you have a full scholarship to another T10.

He obviously conceives of scholarships in a misconstrued fashion. I'm not sure I really care about what tone you want me to have here.
