Yes, and there's one really close to the law school. I heard the price comes out to about $15/monthCFC1524 wrote:+1 for basketball and flag football.
Do law students get access to any of the gyms on campus?

Re: Cornell Class of 2018 (Now with $$$$)
I called CT Terrace today and was told $1,450 a month for a studio. This seems high no? Does anybody (read: Lavitz), have some suggestions for apartment complexes that are a little more reasonable and also within walking distance of the Law School (under a mile would be ideal)

Try Collegetown Center? http://www.ithacarenting.com/ct.php. You could also give this a shot http://www.travishyde.com/Apartments/module/properties/.future!jd12 wrote:I called CT Terrace today and was told $1,450 a month for a studio. This seems high no? If not, there are a few other Cornell owned ones (Maplewood Apartments), that you may be able to find. But despite their "proximity" of under a mile, it's actually pretty far and will make a difference as semester progresses. But certainly do-able, nonetheless. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/42.4404 ... m2!4m1!3e0
Collegetown Center is certainly the closest, but quite frankly I think it'll be just as expensive. Ithaca housing is stupid expensive, so I feel like an apartment complex may be hard to find for cheap. But anyway, give it a shot.

Re: Cornell Class of 2018 (Now with $$$$)
This has been my general experience so far. Definitely some houses that are on the cheaper side (at least comparatively), but I've found only one or two apartments under 1000. Thinking about doing a double in CT for convenience sake (which aren't too expensive) then looking for a cheaper place next year when I can see the places in person / when I know more about the area.runthetrap1990 wrote: Collegetown Center is certainly the closest, but quite frankly I think it'll be just as expensive. Are a lot of people planning on doing Hughes? Seems like a good option for the first year.

I missed out on a small/regular hughes room, and currently have a Large Hughes room (9300 a year). I'm strongly considering it for the convenience factor (plus the chance to get to know a bunch of your classmates). But it comes out to over 1000 a month which is prettty cray.CFC1524 wrote:This has been my general experience so far. I for one am definitely not doing Hughes. Stayed there with a host for ASW. Reminded me of freshman year in undergrad.CFC1524 wrote:Are a lot of people planning on doing Hughes? Seems like a good option for the first year.

Regarding basketball, the Noyes rec center is really close to the law school, and you don't have to pay anything to use the basketball court (just bring your Cornell ID). If you want to use the weight room, then you have to pay for a membership.
We should get a game going with 1Ls and 2Ls next year and take over Noyes

So all the small/regular rooms are gone? I got a large room as well and was going to email tomorrow and ask if I could get a small or regular instead. I'm not too hot on the idea of paying that much for dorm life.ithrowds wrote:

^ Come on, that's not even fair. A year's worth of law school likely took a heavy toll on your bodies.

Although one friend kept up with basketball this semester, his non-law school intramural team made it to the finals and played in the varsity gym

I asked the lady who is doing the hughes assignments earlier today and she said all the small/regulars are gone. There were only a couple large left at the time as well. Think we're out of luck. It sounds expensive but then when you consider paying for a 12 month lease at an apartment complex nearby and not being to sublet that (I've heard its hell trying to sublet places in ithaca for the summer) - its not too bad?Broncos847 wrote:So all the small/regular rooms are gone? Withdrawing from Cornell. I never expected to even be considering Ithaca this late in the cycle, but the super generous $$$ made it a tough decision. Best of luck to everyone!

Still no word regarding scholarship negotiation. Guess I might as well deposit. I'll be a little miffed if their strategy was to just wait me out until my competing offer expires, which it does today at 5:00pm.

Re: Cornell Class of 2018 (Now with $$$$)
I deposited today so now my search for roommates starts!
I'm looking for a spacious, pet friendly place that's 2 or 3 bedrooms. I don't mind if it's not walking distance as long as it's not more than a 15 min bus/car ride to the campus, and I'd prefer to have female roommates. I don't have anything locked down yet, but I have a pretty extensive list of places that match these restraints - if you're looking for a similar living situation definitely PM me because I'd love to get in contact with some potential roommates!

How would they ever know you didn't double deposit? I doubt they'll ask you and they cant see who double deposits for a couple weeks. If they wanna play that game, you can too.Yeezus wrote:Still no word regarding scholarship negotiation. Guess I might as well deposit. Cornell doesn't have a policy against double-depositing. I emailed them specifically about that. Idk if your other school does tho...dustybottoms7 wrote:i feel as though adcomms have some sort of communication between one another...WeeBey wrote:How would they ever know you didn't double deposit? Not a make or break decision, but do people at Cornell Law School play FIFA?
