Congrats to today's JS2s!cecily2015 wrote:checking in! when is the next asw?
Next ASW is April 18-20. (They're also all listed here: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 8&t=240528)
Congrats to today's JS2s!cecily2015 wrote:checking in! when is the next asw?
Scholarships have no effect on the need-based aid. A fair amount of people come in with schollys from other schools, so HLS expects you to make a hard decision.Veronica2015 wrote:Checking in! Admitted from yesterday's wave.
Question: Is there any room for negotiation once decision on need-based aid is made? Do scholarship offers from other schools have any bearing on those decisions? Is it safe to withdraw from other schools and vacate spots for people now? Sorry for throwing in a bunch of questions!

Took mine about 24 hours, but I submitted right when it opened in Feb. I'd wait until at least mid-day tomorrow before contacting them.leslieknope wrote:How long does it financial aid documents to show up on the application's document list once you submit them? I submitted a bunch of things Sunday night and then got an email from Financial Aid saying that they were missing. Are they still making their way through the void or should I resubmit?
I submitted fairly late one evening and got the confirmation e-mail in the early afternoon the next day.Orion311 wrote:Has anyone here accepted through the online response form? How long did it take for you to get a confirmation email?

Curious as well. I go back and forth between "fuck money, I'm gunning for LIPP-eligible jobs anyway so H could end up being cheapest in the long run of all my options!!!" and "oh god that is six figures of loans there."blueberrycrumble wrote:Congrats to all the new JS2s lately!!
Also, can we get a poll similar to like: accepted offer, most likely going to accept offer, 50/50 unsure, will be withdrawing ; etc.?
Curious to see how many people have made a decision so far!
+1. What runs through my head as I go to sleep. Hahaleslieknope wrote: Curious as well. I go back and forth between "fuck money, I'm gunning for LIPP-eligible jobs anyway so H could end up being cheapest in the long run of all my options!!!" and "oh god that is six figures of loans there."

Seriously. Trying to decide between a Vanderbilt and Harvard right now, and it's just brutal. I'm leaving a decently well-paying, but boring, corporate job (~65 hrs a week) to go to law school, because the money alone isn't making me happy right now, and I want to go into public service. On the one hand...run down the list of Supreme Court Justices, Senators, Governors, etc. 90% went to Harvard. Harvard has a significantly higher likelihood of getting me the jobs that I actually want.mujiali wrote:+1. What runs through my head as I go to sleep. Hahaleslieknope wrote: Curious as well. Not to self-promote, but this thread had a lot of great discussion about HLS vs. full rides at Columbia/Chicago/NYU. I'd recommend giving the first several pages a skim: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 1&t=245100meisme23 wrote:Seriously. On the other hand...if I work hard enough at NYU, I could maybe get the same opportunity at Bristow, prestigious clerkships, etc, and only have ~50k in debt, as opposed to ~250k. But if I am not able to, and end up in a boring, high-hour BigLaw job that isn't too different from my current job, I think I would always wonder "What if?" The flip-side to this, though, is that I could end up at BigLaw from Harvard too, saddled with ~250k debt, cursing myself for not taking the Vandy.
Decisions, decisions. I know you're all going through the same thing.

For me, at least 1st year, I'm staying where I am, bout 30 away from the school by bus. Already have an apartment and lease so don't see a reason to shake it up. Might move closer 2L though. how about this: For those who are certain/relatively certain that they are going to Harvard, what are you thinking about housing options?
