Mine had that language too, but I highly doubt I would qualify for a greater need-based aid than the merit scholarship I received. My understanding is that you get the higher of the two, but not both.rbwlaw wrote:Not sure that is correct. Second page of scholarship letter I saw states "if you qualify through the Office of Financial Aid for a need-based grant of more than $XXXXX, you will receive the higher amount instead."Dipper wrote:Boo. Filling out that Need Access took for fucking ever.hereisonehand wrote:yesDipper wrote:Question about scholarship language.
From the scholarship letter, "This scholarship, in combination with any need-based grants you may receive or have received from Georgetown, is for $XX for each of three years of full-time study here at the Law Center."
Do you think this means that I would not qualify for any additional need-based aid?
May want to check last paragraph of letter for the above language. Your letter could be different. But letter I read seems to clearly indicate you get the higher of merit or need based award if you receive both.

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2018
Hey new GULC'ers - congratulations! Current GULC 3E student here (evening student).
Pre-emptive advertising/general recommendation: Think seriously about becoming a faculty research assistant. The work is usually pretty light, it pays, and you end up with a professor who will go to bat for you on interviews/etc.
On that note: If anyone has a particular interest in legal technology or the evolution of the legal profession and are interested in becoming an RA - PM me. I've worked for the same professor for over 2 years now, but next year will be my last and I'm informally trying to help get word out now.
If you have other subject area interests or particular firms with which you want to network early, look up professor bios or PM me and I can share what info I have.
One colleague of mine helped secure a SA position at Williams & Connolly with the help of the professor they RA'd for - it happens!

They don't offer it for the march Open House because of the proximity to finals. That's what I was told by the admissions office.Gray wrote:I think they have a thing to help you stay with a current student (or at least they did in jan)? IDK though, I haven't looked into it - staying with family.gilessanderson wrote:March open house-ers: this is a shot in the dark but does georgetown provide an option for staying at the law school? How much snow and cold does DC usually get? I've lived in NYC and always thought it was about the same.Gray wrote:lol 10 inches of accumulation and DC can't handle it. Pffffff.navykev wrote:Anyone else glad we are not in DC right now?

I think I can live with that.buckiguy_sucks wrote:according to the shady site that popped up upon Googling it, NYC averages 25 inches/year and DC averages 15/year so it gets like 2/3s the snow NYC does.Dipper wrote:How much snow and cold does DC usually get? Yay! Congrats! I knew Andy would come around!!Gray wrote:Phew!! finally got my scholly consideration email from Andy! You know I love you, Cornblatt.
Did you end up soliciting?
ETA: ps. What's the deal with PILS? Do they just select from applicants? Do they interview? Anybody have any idea of the timeline? (I'm sorry. I hate it when people ask questions without doing any research, but that's what I'm doing.)
