Bah, I forgot to offer my drink tickets to the 0Ls on my tour group. I can't afford to be tempted into going to this again.hairbear7 wrote:On this note, if anyone isn't going tonight I'll take your drink vouchersWinter is Coming wrote:Apologies in advance to anyone I see tonight. Very jealous of everyone at ASW. I hope y'all have fun. If anyone could share accounts of their experiences, either here or vis PM, I'd really appreciate it.
So, this happy email came about 6 hours ago:

I appreciate that they communicated an ETA for us.Please understand this is a manual process and it does take time. I do anticipate that all assignment notifications will be made by Thursday, April 23rd.
Also by this same date, notifications to the applicants that were not assigned informing them that they were not assigned that their application will remain open as I monitor cancellations that may come in and continue to make assignments in the order of the applications received.

Is anyone else waiting to hear back? I applied in January (although app didn't go complete on status checker until like early Feb), but I'm still waiting to hear back.
Getting a little antsy because I'm ready to deposit elsewhere...

If I deposit at Cornell can I keep negotiating with other schools? I couldn't find anything on their website specifically addressing this, but I have read that other schools require you to withdraw everywhere else or they will take away your scholarship.

As far as I know, we do not have any rule against double depositing or requiring you to withdraw from all other schools. There used to be a stipulation for the Dean's Scholarship to withdraw from all other schools where you were admitted, but I don't know if that's carried over to the Hughes Scholarship.Vermonster wrote:If I deposit at Cornell can I keep negotiating with other schools? According to my scholarship notification, it looks like the deadline to accept the scholarship itself is the first deposit deadline, and it says, "by signing this you are certifying that it is your intention to attend Cornell Law School and that you have withdrawn from all other law schools to which you have been admitted."Lavitz wrote:As far as I know, we do not have any rule against double depositing or requiring you to withdraw from all other schools. Yes, that's the same as it was for the Dean's.zhenders wrote:According to my scholarship notification, it looks like the deadline to accept the scholarship itself is the first deposit deadline, and it says, "by signing this you are certifying that it is your intention to attend Cornell Law School and that you have withdrawn from all other law schools to which you have been admitted."Lavitz wrote:As far as I know, we do not have any rule against double depositing or requiring you to withdraw from all other schools. Thanks for being so active, Lavitz -- it's awesome you're spending the time you are here in this forum for us.
My earlier jokes about pictures aside (which weren't actually jokes), how did ASW go for everyone? General thoughts? If you're not interested in a public post about it, let me know if you wouldn't mind a PM and I'll pick your brain that way.

I was there on Friday, really liked the people - current students and the other admits I met. There was an interesting "we'll go around and you'll introduce yourself" thing that happened in the morning. I guess it was done to showcase the small class size and 'diversity'. Most presentations were boring for me, but the career talk and the student life panel were informative.altf4 wrote:And me too!ithrowds wrote:zhenders wrote:Thanks for being so active, Lavitz -- it's awesome you're spending the time you are here in this forum for us.

Re: Cornell Class of 2018 (Now with $$$$)
hey guys, just wondering is anyone knows what is meant exactly by this line in the scholarship email?
"Half of your annual scholarship will be awarded to you during each semester that you are in good standing as a full time student in residence at the Law School."
-what qualifies as being in 'good standing'? anyone know if many students lose their scholarship because of this?
-what is meant by '...in residence at the Law School'?
*thank you all!

Pretty sure it just means don't fail your classes/get arrested. I've seen this general sentiment at other schools I'm looking at and it's nbdhodzdoh wrote:hey guys, just wondering is anyone knows what is meant exactly by this line in the scholarship email?

Hey so this is only for the Hughes right? If I have a normal scholarship, I should be fine not withdrawing my other apps?
