Re: Vanderbilt Class of 2018
Still waiting due to this snow but in so nervous Vandy is my top choice but just barely. Mainly it's closer to home so I would love to go there but if the don't give me the same or hopefully more than texas I can't justify it due to higher tuition. Really hoping the mail gets here soon and good news is waiting

Congrats to everyone with the scholarships!
Did any of you apply for the Law Scholar Merit Awards and hear back yet?

Where on the west coast are you guys? Got nothing in Northern CA yesterdayUOI4430 wrote:West Coast here. Got the Dean's 75+5 offer. I hope that the no negotiation policy isn't dead set. I think I would definitely attend for 10-15 more.

I guess admissions said several batches went out across several days, so maybe there's hope for the rest of us.

Edit: To add to that, I'm around one median and above a 75th, I don't think I would get absolutely nothing scholarship wise (at least I hope not), so don't worry yet!

Bummed about the offer I received. PM for details. I figured Vanderbilt would be my top choice, accounting for cost. Guess not.

has anyone gotten anything in new york?
I have an unnamed mailing from 3/3 in my status checker which I assumed was to notify me if I have received a scholarship or not, but I still haven't gotten anything in the mail.

There must be at least one brave soul who negotiated successfully with Vandy. I want to know if it is even worthwhile to ask. As students turn down offers money returns to the pool. Why wouldn't they negotiate at that point?

Got my $75k letter today in Texas. I love all my interactions with their admissions office and have been so impressed with them. Def going to be making a decision at ASW. Hoping Nashville is what I've envisioned.

Re: Vanderbilt Class of 2018
I don't think money really returns to the pool as students withdraw (at least not in large amounts) because they offer more scholarships than they actually have to give in the first place, knowing that there will be some melt. But I am also curious if there's been any successful negotiations! This is the first school I've encountered that said outright not to negotiate.UOI4430 wrote:There must be at least one brave soul who negotiated successfully with Vandy. I am deciding between a full ride to Wash U and the $110,000 I got to Vandy. I want to ask if I still have a chance to be considered for the Law Scholar Merit Award, but don't know how to go about doing so or if it is even worth it. Wash U April 1st deadline is fast approaching. Any suggestions?

Re: Vanderbilt Class of 2018
Per Spivey, Vandy dropped one in the rankings to 17...maybe that will make them more open to negotiation. It's tough when I've got a full ride to the school ranked directly below them (WashU) and Vandy gave me roughly 1/2.
Regarding asking despite the letter that notified us of our awards: what's the harm? Your offer isn't going to be pulled. Especially if done politely and thoughtfully, I doubt they'd be offended. I definitely plan on at least asking.
