yeah def, not like Michelin starred places or anything, but NY is used to transience

I'd prob start with hitting up NYU/CU profs for some RA stuff -if you can get a bite, might open up resources at that school

I recommend against working in a restaurant, if you can help it.

During an interview for a 1L summer internship the interviewer asked me, "so where did you work in college...to make money...not to fluff your resume?"

I told him I actually worked in the same restaurant for four years as a bus boy, then bar tender, and finally a server.

He said, "Man, so you've had some awful jobs. No offense, I just mean you've had to do some unfavorable work. I like that."

Interview ended with me walking out of there with an unpaid 1L summer internship!

If you go to an ivy now for LS, or went to one UG, market it along with some other accomplishments (PBK, summa/magna/cum, recipient of named scholarship at X LS ranked X in the nation, etc.). Doesnt have to be an ivy, obviously, but it helps build some traction and cred with parents/tiger moms almost immediately. In any event, if you do it all right you will make great money (maybe upwards of $50/hr, but I used to charge $35/hr) teaching HS kids how to write for like 10th grade English.

I did this through UG and recommend it to all my friends.
