Re: The 1Lephant in the Room: Are You Dropping Out
Can we have a poll asking if people out/underperformed their LSAT prediction? And then a similar poll asking about UGPA?

Prediction: All respodents wildly outperformed their LSAT prediction on TLS poll.Gray wrote:why not?Wahrheit wrote:noHikikomorist wrote:Can we have a poll asking if people out/underperformed their LSAT prediction? And then a similar poll asking about UGPA?

Can you explain this more?Hikikomorist wrote:Can we have a poll asking if people out/underperformed their LSAT prediction? And then a similar poll asking about UGPA?
(I recently read an interesting paper that said that the LSAT would be even more predictive if it didn't determine where people would be admitted, which I thought was an interesting point.)

Yeah, range restriction is huge.landshoes wrote:Can you explain this more?Hikikomorist wrote:Can we have a poll asking if people out/underperformed their LSAT prediction? And then a similar poll asking about UGPA?

As for an explanation, I'm just bummed about how my semester went and wanted to have company in misery.

oh ok I just want to know how you would go about it
like, taking our LSAT or GPA comparison to school medians? and then comparing our grades to the median grades?

My understanding is that if you were say above the median LSAT then ended with median grades you would not have wildly outperformed your LSAT prediction you would not be wildly outperforming which I'm sure is a very common TLS outcome
Maybe I'm misunderstanding the q

Yeah, it would be relative to school 25ths/50ths/75ths.landshoes wrote:oh ok I just want to know how you would go about it

I think the poll is a funny idea, I don't get why some of y'all are so uptight about this stuff.

Re: The 1Lephant in the Room: Are You Dropping Out
I'm just assuming, based off of how lounge polls go, that not everyone was going to be 100% honest with their results. See: 1L thread last year where 33% of respondents are in top 10% of their class, and over half are in the top 25%. Is it impossible, no. Is it unlikely to be true? I mean...buckiguy_sucks wrote:?OhBoyOhBortles wrote:Prediction: All respodents wildly outperformed their LSAT prediction on TLS poll.Gray wrote:why not?Wahrheit wrote:noHikikomorist wrote:Can we have a poll asking if people out/underperformed their LSAT prediction? That said, I'm up for the poll if everyone else is.

Yeah, sure, bring it. Bortles, don't forget how there's a strong self-selection as to both who finds themselves on here in the first place, and to who ends up still posting after a year--TLS is gunners' paradise, even if we all want to believe we are cool sociable gunners.OhBoyOhBortles wrote:I'm just assuming, based off of how lounge polls go, that not everyone was going to be 100% honest with their results. As to the question, while I'm above median after last semester, my LSAT relative to that of my class mates would've predicted me being much closer to PnJ-territory than I in fact am.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
