I didn't, and I still got a merit scholarship offer. Pretty sure parent info is only for need based scholarships.

Yeah after I received my merit offer I emailed them about the parent info and they said they only needed it if I was applying for need-based too.

Submitted FA info sheets 3 weeks ago, received confirmation a few days later. Then last week received an email stating that I have yet to submit info sheet, asked to double check, and got an email earlier this week confirming reception of materials.

Should I now ask them for a timeline, or just wait patiently having received a second confirmation of receipt?
Wow that sucks. But since the second confirmation only came a few days ago, I think waiting would be the better option.

That being said, I'd personally feel nervous/annoyed/antsy. Maybe call, gently remind them that you have deadlines coming up, and ask for a general timeline so you can plan appropriately and figure out deposit strategies? (Is this too passive aggressive?)

Reminding them is fine considering they messed up, just mention you have deadlines coming up

The fact that most of the class ends up in NYC doesn't reflect upon whether or not the Cornell's placement power is high in other cities. The people who bid CA got CA last year and the people who bid Boston got Boston. I don't know about D.C./Chicago (and it's probably definitely harder there) but, at least anecdotally, I don't know anyone who targeted a particular market and didn't end up getting callbacks there.

Got a same-day response to my initial email. Received a "reconsideration offer" two days after I sent copies of my offers from other schools.

Thanks. Did you email financial aid? That's where the other schools redirected my emails so I just sent it directly to them this time, but I haven't heard anything at all and I emailed them yesterday morning...

First message was to the financial aid office; second message was in reply to the person who answered my original email. I'm sure they'll get back to you sometime early next week - from what I can tell, Cornell usually has a pretty good turnaround time.

I was able to leverage with a WashU Dean's Scholarship pretty successfully.

Is anybody ITT planning to go to the ASW later this week? I can't make it, unfortunately, but I'm super interested to learn about the public interest program and see what additional info they give out. If someone with similar interests is planning to attend would it be possible for you to PM me impressions you have afterwards?

I'm already 95% sure that Cornell is going to be where I end up long term and I'm bummed I won't be able to make it to ASW - hopefully I can live vicariously though one of you

Sure - I'm doing a bit of a road-trip-thing post ASW, though, so I might not be able to type up the PM until Monday. As long as that's okay, I'd be more than happy to pass along any info / impressions I get from the meeting. Very interested in PI stuff, but I understand how difficult finding a job can be; hoping to hear encouraging news from the info session.

On a somewhat related note, has anyone heard back about a travel subsidy? I applied for a couple weeks ago but have yet to hear back. Thinking about calling and asking if I don't hear anything by Wednesday.
