I've been living in Philly for 5 years now and going down there was really shocking for me. Lol I thought I would like a change of scenery, but I definetly like the city environment better. Plus Penn and UVA gave me identical scholarships....so yea. Lol

Yes but I've heard nothing. Maybe I'll get picked as an alternate for this too?

Have folks who haven't received James Wilsons and Levys received any sort of Merit determination?

Have folks who received James Wilsons received any additional need based aid?

Just wondering to the extent there is non JW/Levy merit and to what extent need aid exists separate and apart from merit at Penn.

you can get a dean's scholarship that amounts to something between $4500-$60,000 over 3 years. You can get need based aid on top of it too.

I received a James Wilson scholarship and got another email from financial aid saying that because I had the merit scholarship, I didn't qualify for any additional need based aid.

If I have not received an invitation to apply for named merit scholarships and was admitted a while back (I think 1/16), is TCR that I won't be at a later point? Just trying to see if I should withdraw now or hold out for an invitation later.

Just jumping in here, I guess you all missed it but you get to go to school with Emma Thompson. She chose Penn for graduate work. I'm from the Philly area and lived in UCity for awhile if anyone has questions about it or any part of the city really PM me.

I'm not attending Penn because I've been in this place for way too long, aka my whole life, but have tons of insights on the city.

FYI the best cheesesteaks are not from Pat's or Geno's,

I loved it. Penn moved up a couple spots for me. ASW was pretty well planned, but the panels got old quick

Out of all my options I'm sold on Penn. No word from S or H, but I'm quite happy to make Penn my home regardless. I really liked the school and students.

I totally agree. Every session I attended had a panel, and was primarily based on these students' subjective experiences. I was hoping for more substantive information. It was very well organized, but I feel like I walked away not having learned much about the school.

I also got the sense that 1Ls spend more time studying here compared to the other schools where I've attended ASWs. Obviously 1L is very intense everywhere, but at other schools it sounded like there are some extracurricular opportunities that students get involved with, but at Penn everyone I heard from said they exclusively study, with the exception of going to bar review.

I got this vibe too. It feels like a very supportive place.
