Right, although the source I usually look at for quick comparisons is simply http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 8#p7546483

How early should I deposit to get a good chance at getting a Hughes spot? I'm still not set at Cornell as I'm waiting on financial aid at other schools.

Re: Cornell Class of 2018 (Now with $$$$)
I'm registered for the April 17 ASD and I'm excited to see the school. I'm looking at the itenerary and apparently there is a "dance party" at the Pixel Lounge on Friday night. I'm pretty social but I don't know if a super loud club atmosphere would be very fun, especially as I won't know anyone and I don't think trying to pick up drunk 0L's would be a good idea. Anyone know what the dance party entails?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say dancing. It will entail dancing.Broncos847 wrote:I'm registered for the April 17 ASD and I'm excited to see the school. I'm more than ready to suggest that a number of us cannot dance.

Can anyone tell me how soon it is possible to access loan money? I will probably need it sooner rather than later because I don't make enough to finance moving up there/other basic things like buying furniture or whatever. The deposits have pretty much drained what I had

it's typically dispersed in the first week or a little before. I'm not sure if you can get an advance or not, but I would reach out to FinAid and inquire.nawi226 wrote:Can anyone tell me how soon it is possible to access loan money? We reserved the entire club. Everyone got at least two free drink tickets. Some people danced. I can't say for certain how fun it was because I blacked out too early in the night.Broncos847 wrote:I'm registered for the April 17 ASD and I'm excited to see the school. I do vaguely remember someone bringing their parents. Don't bring your parents. What is wrong with you.
But you should have met people throughout the day. If nobody you met is going, and you don't think clubs are fun, then feel free to skip it.

LOL at bolded. It's a really small place. Wear shitty shoes if you go. Floor is usually sticky and gross.Broncos847 wrote:I'm registered for the April 17 ASD and I'm excited to see the school. Has anyone looked at Cornell's "student ethnicity" pie chart on LSN? The breakdown is surprisingly a lot more diverse than other schools I have looked at. Is Cornell known for being especially diverse?

I am very interested in this too. Also am I right in thinking that I can deposit at Cornell and still keep negotiating scholarships with other schools afterwards?kingpin101 wrote:How early should I deposit to get a good chance at getting a Hughes spot? I did. It looks like Cornell might be the most ethnically diverse out of all the schools in the T14. Definitely a plus for me.betty_bojangles wrote:Has anyone looked at Cornell's "student ethnicity" pie chart on LSN? +1. I remember looking at some thread with diversity stats listed and noticed Cornell near the top. It's not a huge factor for me, but it's something to consider.YeezusPiece wrote:I did. Does anyone think Cornell would negotiate with a full scholarship from WUSTL?

It's going to depend on how much money Cornell gave you. If it's $0 v. full from WUSTL, then yeah I'm sure. If it's like $135k v. full from WUSTL, they will almost assuredly not negotiate. However, it never ever ever hurts to try. Only good (or neutral) things can come from trying to negotiate.YeezusPiece wrote:Does anyone think Cornell would negotiate with a full scholarship from WUSTL?

Does anyone know if Cornell does a bar review, especially when its Winter? (The drinking kind). I went to one at another ASW and it was a ton of fun.
Edit: Nvm found the answer on a prior class thread (of course Cornell does a bar review). I also found this super helpful map for housing (at least it was for me)

I never went to UG in the states but how smoke friendly is Cornell and Ithaca in general?
Is it possible at all to smoke inside Hughes? Are the front doors to buildings sheltered a bit so youre not out in the wind? Can you smoke in bars in Ithaca? And are smokes really $12-14 for a pack of 20?

Could be wrong, but I don't think there is any bar in America anymore that lets you smoke inside.WeeBey wrote:I never went to UG in the states but how smoke friendly is Cornell and Ithaca in general?

People smoke right outside the doors of Hughes literally everyday. There's a decent amount of smokers here, and no one will judge you for it (we are all adults). I don't know how much packs of cigs go for here but I do know that NY has like the highest taxes on cigarettes generallyWeeBey wrote:I never went to UG in the states but how smoke friendly is Cornell and Ithaca in general?
