It's not too bad, and there are a lot of timing options. I'd just rather get out of the airport and to the hotel for a nap ASAP and am thinking about options for avoiding the wait.Winston1984 wrote:Can you link the shuttle schedule? Yeah, I'm using that shuttle. It's super easy to book it on the website, and there are lots of options plus two drop off points in A2.

Awesome- congrats! Thanks so much for sharing details.mina_ami wrote:I sent an e-mail to admissions, which they forwarded on to financial aid. Explained why I loved Michigan, how money was really the only thing holding me back (which is complete truth), presented them with my offers from Notre Dame and University of Illinois ($120,000 and full tuition respectively). They told me they only review files once, so make sure all your offers are in. From my first e-mail to admissions to today was one week! My stats are in the spreadsheet on the admissions thread if anyone is wondering that, other than that I was just really polite and asked them to reconsider me!JuanitaFromTheDiner wrote:Lurker emerging from the shadows to DITTO this. Saw you had a previous post about using Notre Dame money to negotiate...did that end up working? Wondering because I'm a bit of a splitter, but I've gotten $$ offers from schools 15-20. Didn't know if schools in T14 only considered "peer school" offers. In any case, congratulations!commandercup wrote:I need some more of them juicy details!mina_ami wrote:Successfully negotiated from nothing to $60,000 deans!

Current student here, thought ya'll should know that the tentative fall schedule is online:
https://www.law.umich.edu/currentstuden ... ?term=2060
Obviously you don't know your sections until summer (except summer starters, who are large section ABCD) so you won't know the exact profs or classes you will have, but you can still take a peak at what it might look like.
In terms of what these section divisions mean - everybody is assigned to a single letter section, consisting of 20-25ish people. This section will meet by itself for legal practice classes. For two of the fall doctrinal classes, four of these sections will be grouped into a large section. For the third doctrinal, two of the sections are grouped together into a mid-sized section. I don't know if it will be the same this year, but for the winter semester there is typically no longer a mid-sized section, it's simply 3 doctrinal classes with your large section in addition to the 2nd semester of legal practice.
They're doing things a bit differently than this year's class in terms of fall starter's class schedules. For c/o 2018, all sections will be enrolled in torts as their mid-sized class, c/o 2017 all had civpro as our mid-sized class. Two of the large fall starter sections will also have leg/reg for fall semester - all of c/o 2017 were spared that class until this current semester.

Thank you! I may just be missing something obvious, but is there a summer schedule posted somewhere for summer starters?Vexed wrote:Current student here, thought ya'll should know that the tentative fall schedule is online:

It's not posted yet apparently, but when it will be, it should appear here: http://www.law.umich.edu/currentstudent ... ?term=2040.hearsay77 wrote:Thank you! I may just be missing something obvious, but is there a summer schedule posted somewhere for summer starters?
If you play around with the final number (2040 in the link above), it will take you to different class schedules. Increase or decrease it by 10 (i.e.: 2020 is the Spring 2015 semester, and 2060 is the Fall 2015 semester).

Has anyone successfully negotiated a *higher* scholarship with Michigan, after already received an initial offer? In their initial offer email, they say it's "not their policy to negotiate" or "compete" with other schools once an offer has been given. True?

For anyone who is going to this first preview weekend, and has received hotel info. from Mich, did anyone get specific info? Like check-in times, if we're going to be sharing a room, etc?

Nope, just hotel location. The scheduling paragraph's general reference to checking in early makes it sound like it's an option.usernotfound wrote:For anyone who is going to this first preview weekend, and has received hotel info. from Mich, did anyone get specific info? I emailed back asking about early check-in, and they arranged it with the hotel that day (+25 to Michigan). It's my understanding that pretty much everyone will have a roommate, too.strugglebus wrote:Nope, just hotel location. Did anyone who just received that financial aid award info email (which is just a mess to navigate through) see an unsolicited increase in their scholarship? I just gave up on trying to log in at work, so I was curious.

Yeah, I assumed that was the case.. I love how financial aid award=loans. The email should say loans. Not picking on Michigan here, same for every school.secadc11 wrote:I was hoping for that -- but it was just loans.Winston1984 wrote:Did anyone who just received that financial aid award info email (which is just a mess to navigate through) see an unsolicited increase in their scholarship? hey so there will be a roommate at the hotel for admit students, right? Going to drive up and a buddy was thinking of coming along for the ride. Sounds like that is a no go.

Hi all, new here. Just got accepted and super excited!
Do you think I would be able to successfully negotiate money with a very high WUSTL offer on the table? I know they're not quite peers, but I figured it was worth asking what you guys think.

I think you should definitely try! I know that people have negotiated up from nothing at all, so it's quite possible. Michigan seems to be rather generous with their non-named aid compared to some others in the T14. Have you gotten your initial offer yet? It may be better than you expect. I wouldn't try to negotiate without first seeing what they're going to give you.
