Re: NYU c/o 2018
I just received an email from NYU informing me that I am a finalist for the IILJ Scholars Program, which I was a little surprised to hear since my GPA is below NYU's median and my LSAT is only slightly above their 75th.
While I am definitely happy that I am being considered, I am not entirely sure what being a finalist actually entails. Do I now have a strong chance of being offered the scholarship, or am I still just one of a couple hundred people vying for 10 or 15 spots? Does this indicate that, in the event I am not chosen for the Program, I might receive a greater merit based scholarship than I would have otherwise? Also, does anyone have any insights into how the rest of the application process will go? Any info is definitely appreciated.
Thanks!

Admitted a while ago, but just now checking in! Wondering if anyone had any insight on the scholarship process. I still haven't heard anything on RTK, is it late enough I should be concerned or are we just all in the dark together?

Checking in -- admitted recently. If you want to be considered for merit aid only (because you don't think you'll qualify for need), do you still need to submit both FAFSA and Need Access?
Also, is NYU known to consider competing offers from UVA or Mich? Thanks.

several people have received RTK invites. I hear they go out until "mid-march," so I haven't given up hope yet.RoryWannabe wrote:Admitted a while ago, but just now checking in! There is a form to fill out if you want to be considered for merit only, and there's no need for FAFSA or Need Access. I think it's on the financial aid website (the link to which is a page or two back), but I'm not positive.Kip wrote:Checking in -- admitted recently. Try with what you got, but TLS consensus (which, of course, is mostly speculation) is that NYU is stingier than most when it comes to negotiation and money from Columbia or Chicago or a T3 acceptance is going to be your best bet. Never hurts to try though!
Also, a couple of the helpful people on the NYU 1Ls taking questions threads were able to negotiate scholarships, so you might want to check that out too.

I'm not sure anyone knows! If any current IILJ scholars could offer any insight here it would be very interesting to find out morehill1334 wrote:I just received an email from NYU informing me that I am a finalist for the IILJ Scholars Program, which I was a little surprised to hear since my GPA is below NYU's median and my LSAT is only slightly above their 75th.

Can you say a little about your work experience?
If you would welcome the opportunity to work in PI for ten years and you don't think you're stealing a spot from somebody else more deserving, I'd go in guns blazing to the interview
Fake it till you make it.

Save NYC COL, RTK is close to the best outcome someone gunning for PI can get. That alumni network...

Pretty sure it's at least a week before. It's super easy to do, just log onto the admitted student site and check the April date to RSVP.pylon wrote:Speaking of the April ASW, is there a deadline to register?DCfilterDC wrote:What do you think is the split between March and April ASW?

I want to go to the April ASW... Do they offer stipends? I can't find anything on the admitted students page.

Hi everybody!
Anybody ever try to leverage an acceptance at HLS for financial aid/more financial aid from NYU?
