I'm super confused about the financial aid process. Do they email you a status update after you submit need access? Submitted ages ago and have heard nothing.

Would anyone who went to the ASW care to give their thoughts on it? I wasn't able to go, but im really interested to hear other peoples opinions

Hey. I attended. This is only my experience, but I was impressed. Both the class I sat in on and the mock class were fabulous and deeply engaging. Most panels were informative and interesting.nejlas wrote:+1alloverthat wrote:Would anyone who went to the ASW care to give their thoughts on it? Overall vibe was very collegial and down-to-earth, which felt genuine, at least to me.
I left feeling good about the fit and more excited than when I arrived, which I feel like is the goal of these things.

NYU 1L here--just wanted to chime in to say that I left my own ASW feeling equally impressed but wondering whether it was genuine or just theatrics. My experience has been that it's absolutely genuine.mac665 wrote:Hey. I attended. This is only my experience, but I was impressed. What's the most convenient way to get from Penn Station to NYU? Thanks.

So you recommend the subway over taking a taxi?Skool wrote:http://lmgtfy.com/?q=+penn+station+to+nyu+law+subwaygreen.tea wrote:What's the most convenient way to get from Penn Station to NYU? Thanks.

Depending on the time of day, getting a taxi at Penn Station/Seventh Ave is a bitch. Plus it's $2 and some change for subway vs. fifteen bucks to go downtown in a taxi.
If it were me, I save money and take an A-C-E train, which I can catch without leaving Penn. Plus you're looking at a ten minute train ride vs. god-knows-how-long a taxi ride depending on the time of day.

Couldn't agree more. Taking the subway is not only much, much cheaper but will definitely be shorter. Catch the A express and it'll legitimately be a 7 minute ride. It drops you about two blocks from the law school buildings if you exit from the 3rd St/6th Ave side.Skool wrote:Depending on the time of day, getting a taxi at Penn Station/Seventh Ave is a bitch. for all non-New Yorkers: Hopstop is a great app to download to have the subway map on your phone and to get really easy directions using mass transit anywhere in the 5 boroughs. It'll also tell you how much it'll cost you to take a cab.green.tea wrote:So you recommend the subway over taking a taxi?Skool wrote:http://lmgtfy.com/?q=+penn+station+to+nyu+law+subwaygreen.tea wrote:What's the most convenient way to get from Penn Station to NYU? Has anyone been successful (or unsuccessful) in acquiring a travel stipend for ASW? I sent a request last week but haven't heard anything.

I'm sure there's something silly I'm missing or doing wrong, but is anyone else having trouble registering for the next ASW? I keep clicking the link on the admitted student site where it says to RSVP, and it just leads me here http://www.law.nyu.edu/admissions/
Has anyone else had this problem? Sorry if it has been asked before..

Aha! Thanks!! I didn't think it was a browser issue because it wasn't giving an error message or anything. Guess I should've realized that's what it almost always is..LawBron James wrote:Try a different browser if you were using Chrome, same thing happened to me.try.honesty wrote:I'm sure there's something silly I'm missing or doing wrong, but is anyone else having trouble registering for the next ASW? Don't worry, the only reason I figured it out was because I came here and asked the same question, haha.

Fair to say that NYU does not offer travel stipends for ASWs, right?

Here is the finaid website https://faaps.law.nyu.edu/studentmain.html. Once you submit your Need access you won't get an email from NYU; it just updates on this website, but you will get an email once a decision is reached.romanesque wrote:I'm super confused about the financial aid process.
