I got the RTK rejection just now too. Sucks bc I've been working full time in PI (obvi not law) for 5 years and even took some time off in undergrad to do some nonprofit work. I thought I had a pretty focused and strong application. Oh well, guess I'll see how I do with general aid.

Last year, invitation calls started going out shortly after the rejection emails did. *fingers crossed*

Friend of a friend-- not a friend of mine--- got a call yesterday, so this year at least some invites went out before rejections. *for posterity*

Same-ish; been working at a highly-regarded public interest law organization for two years and thought I had a good shot. I've heard that NYU is more generous with merit aid for PI people than non-PI, so that's something to cling to now.

I just got an email saying I'm a finalist - so I'm guessing anyone who applied received a notification this morning if they are a finalist or rejected.

What?? Is that for real? I always thought it was maybe around 25-30 so you had a pretty good chance if you were a finalist. Now that makes me feel even worse about getting dinged.

I'll try to find the source. I read it when I was applying, so ~6 months ago. I very well could be misremembering....

I have no idea how accurate that was at the time (2011) or how much the number of applications or interviews has changed since then.

I don't think you should feel bad. It's (arguably) the best possible outcome for people committed to public service, and the competition is fierce. I know I'd rather have the RTK than a T3 offer (easy for me to say since I won't get a T3 offer ), and I bet others who have better numbers than me feel the same way.

Had to speak w/ admissions on the phone for some clerical stuff pertaining to my application and was (indirectly) informed that, for some of the named scholarships, decisions haven't been made one way or the other.

No, but I applied kind-of late/close to the RTK deadline since I didn't know one can apply to multiple schollys on the initial application. This may be why I got an email since I didn't indicate RTK on the application to NYU law.

Taking time out from my Lawyering research to just congratulate everyone who's gotten in so far. If anyone has questions please feel free to post them as replies to this message or send them as a PM. I'm a 1L and an RTK.

The responses are rolling. I don't know when each person will get a response one way or the other, but by all means some people may get responses tomorrow. The committee is trying to get them out as quickly as possible for everyone.
