Location: 828 Brookwood Place, Ann Arbor, MI
Description: 6 bedroom, 3 bathroom house less than a 10 minute walk to school. Newly renovated and in great shape. We're law students and there were law students before us, and before them. Basement lounge area. 2 washers, 2 dryers. Two common rooms. Full kitchen. Awesome landlord. The price is half of what we pay. We just want a little of our rent paid for while we're gone for the summer, so let's make a deal! (By the way, CONGRATS. Michigan was the right choice.)

Assuming that's including utilities that's not a bad deal. Don't underestimate the convenience of 2 washers and 2 dryers inside your own place.

Available: House available May 5 - Aug 20 (will try to be flexible on move-in/move-out if you need an extra day or two)
Location: 200 Packard St., Ann Arbor, MI 48104 - 7 minute walk from school, close to bars and restaurants on Main Street - great location for the summer!
Desc: 6 fully furnished bedrooms for rent - we are all law students and would love to rent the entire place to summer starters. House is fully furnished with two bathrooms, parking is available, laundry on site, pet friendly (just let me know of any pets), TV, internet, electricity all included in cost. It's a big house, each bedroom is a good size with a bed, dresser, closet and desk. Living room has couches, chairs and a TV with cable. Kitchen will be fully useable with basic kitchen utensils.
Price: $550/month per room (negotiable).

Has anyone had success negotiating money (after not receiving any) this cycle? Trying to wait until I have more offers in hand before going to Michigan but summer start makes everything feel so urgent.

Definitely. I didn't do it personally, but it worked for a lot of people in my class ('16). I'm not really sure how to go about doing it, but if you go to the admissions office with scholarship offers from peer schools and really express an interest in coming to Michigan, they are going to be reasonable. They offered you admission, they want you to come, and they understand they may have to give you money to get you to come.

I am not a summer starter and I don't think I heard any of these stories from one, but I don't see why it should make a difference. Don't miss the deposit deadline of course, but sit tight, wait for other decisions/scholarship offers, and then go to them. I don't think you have to rush it. (Any summer starter want to chime in?)

Should be about 2 weeks, according to their site: https://www.law.umich.edu/financialaid/ ... es/1L.aspx

Admitted students are automatically considered for merit-based scholarship decisions, and no separate application is required. We begin processing the bulk of our merit scholarships in mid-January; by late January, we are caught up with awards for offers made through the end of the year, and from that point through the end of the season, a merit award, if any, is made within about two weeks of an admissions offer.

I forget my exact timeline in terms of length from acceptance to notification of scholarship, but I'm fairly certain it was at least 4-5 weeks. So don't get worried if you haven't heard yet.

Today is day 22 of waiting for Darrow results. Ugh Michigan is my top choice by far and I just want to hear back.

Checking in. Accepted with small scholly in December after applying in October. Visited the campus a couple of weekends and was very impressed.

Only reason I wouldn't attend at this point is if I got into UVa or NYU, the only 2 law schools that still have not gotten back to me. Statistically, though, it doesn't look great for me.

I'm thinking about just filling out the Lawyer's Club form and sending it in, since I would love to live there.
